US continues to go backward...

From time to time this board has interesting discussion on how to address social security.

Maybe I’ve missed it but we never talk about income discrepancy. We do talk about raising the retirement age or raising the cap.

But what if for the 70MM US workers working for wages that barely get them by companies actually take care of them? We’ve seen an explosion in wage and wealth discrepancy. I’ve seen statistics that say CEO income has gone up over 1000% since around 1980 while average worker pay has gone up like 25% when you look at time adjusted dollars.

If you simply increased that 70MM employee pay by $10,000 per yr, you put 42 billion annually into Social Security.

Don’t want to raise the cap on high income to where they pay the same tax rate, then let’s solve more problems by increasing worker pay.

Transgender People Applying for Jobs Could Face Jail Time Under Texas Bill

Texas Representative Tom Oliverson seeks to charge individuals with "gender identity fraud" and face jail time under a Texas bill introduced last week.

1 in 7 children who got it died or was hospitalized from it too
Entire families of children would be wiped out.

As a pharmacist I would never question a parent who was concerned about adverse effects of a medication being given to their child. But considering adverse effects is only half of the equation. If you aren’t also considering the disease being prevented, and accurately considering that disease, then you don’t have the equation correct.

Isn't the R0 up there in the high teens on it ??

"McBride has said she intends to “pick her battles” and avoid rising to Republicans’ bait, because attacks on her are meant as distractions from policies which hurt ordinary Americans.

“I think we are all united that attempts to attack a vulnerable community are not only mean-spirited but really an attempt to misdirect,” she told CBS. “Because every single time we hear the incoming administration or Republicans in Congress talk about any vulnerable group in this country, we have to be clear that it is an attempt to distract.

“Every single time we hear them say the word ‘trans’, look at what they’re doing with their right hand. Look at what they’re doing to pick the pocket of American workers, to fleece seniors by privatizing social security and Medicare. Look at what they’re doing, undermining workers.”

Speaking to the New York Times, McBride said that behind the scenes some Republicans have been “warm and welcoming”, though they have not defended her in public."

I don't know much about Rep. McBride, but I sure like her attitude.

I also like the way she handled Rep. Self as well.

In Tuesday’s foreign affairs hearing, panel chair Keith Self of Texas introduced the Delaware member when it was her turn to speak by saying: “I now recognize the representative from Delaware, Mr McBride.”

McBride responded satirically: “Thank you, Madam Chair.”
