The US Border Patrol has now admitted it’s responsible for the decision to leave giant flood gates in the border wall wide open — giving thousands of illegal immigrants an easy opportunity to stream into Arizona.
After some initial finger-pointing at other federal agencies, the agency took ownership for making the call.
“USBP makes the final decision on opening gates based on operational conditions and forecasted weather,” the agency said a statement to The Post.
Cartels are exploiting the situation, dropping off migrants by the busload so they can casually walk into the US through the open doors and hand themselves over to border agents, as The Post witnessed firsthand west of remote Lukeville, Ariz., last weekend.
Last Friday, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released their latest operational figures showing the border sector at Tucson, which includes the area with the open floodgates, has become the busiest in the country with the Border Patrol encountering 42,561 people trying to cross legally and illegally into the country in July.

The Border Patrol admitted it was responsible for making the decision to open the floodgates, to ease floodwaters which can damage the structure of the wall — which is already a porous structure — during monsoon season, which can hit any time between mid-June and September in Southern Arizona.

The video clearly showed the gates were welded open. The Border Patrol has admitted to doing it on orders from "superiors" after Border Agents kept closing them to stem the flow of illegals.

You do understand the welded situation is temporary right, and has been ongoing every single Year since the wall went up because the first Flood damn near destroyed the entire section of wall. It is simply a method of keeping the Flood gates open to prevent debris build up that has been ongoing since the first Flood hit that fence
These Flood gates are tack welded open each June 15th, and are open from June 15th to sept 15th every year....specially after the first year monsoon season damn near took the whole wall down, They learned too much debris piles up on it and that during the Monsoon season they must keep the gates open, so they are tack welded open during these dates. the Arizona monsoon season, which runs from June 15 to Sept. 15 every year,
Any notion these things have been tack welded open for ANY other reason except for the Arizona monsoon season, which runs from June 15 to Sept. 15 every year, OR are permanent welded open is ignorant. The fact that many people were Not aware of this until Now, doesn't mean it was nefarious or anything, They did the same thing under the Trump admin and they are still doing it under the Biden admin. Has no political affiliation and nothing at all to do with Immigrants. It is a standard operating procedure that has been ongoing since the first floods nearly took the wall down.
