US continues to go backward...

What most people don't realize is SI is going broke because I refused to click on any of their links since the Dirty Game article. Fact.
I gave up the subscription I had since a boy for the same reason. I’m sure that the two of us pretty much did them in…along with the 300# swimsuit models.

Pastor created 'worthless' Christian cryptocurrency to support 'lavish lifestyle'

A pastor and his wife have both been charged with fraud for allegedly creating a cryptocurrency, pitching it to Christian communities and using the proceeds to fund their “lavish lifestyle," authorities say.

Eli Regalado, a pastor in Denver, Colorado, and his wife, Kaitlyn Regalado, “created, marketed and sold a cryptocurrency known as the ‘INDXcoin’ to members of the Christian community,” according to a statement from the Colorado Division of Securities. “The INDXcoin was also offered through the Kingdom Wealth Exchange (KWE), an online cryptocurrency exchange that they created, controlled and operated.”

Colorado Securities Commissioner Tung Chan filed civil fraud charges on Thursday against Eligio (Eli) and Kaitlyn Regalado of Denver, along with the companies they used to allegedly sell the coins, for alleged violations of the anti-fraud, licensing and registration provisions of the Colorado Securities Act.

“According to the complaint filed by the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, investigators from the Colorado Division of Securities found that from June 2022 to April 2023, INDXcoin raised nearly $3.2 million from more than 300 individuals,” authorities said. “The complaint alleges that Regalado targeted Christian communities in Denver and claimed that God told him directly that investors would become wealthy if they put money into INDXcoin.”

The Colorado Division of Securities say that the Regalados had no experience in cryptocurrency “which was clear when a third-party auditor’s report allegedly described their INDXcoin code as unsafe, unsecure and riddled with serious technical problems.”

The Regalados, however, continued to promote the INDXcoin as a low-risk, high-profit investment when, according to the complaint against them, “the INDXcoin was illiquid and practically worthless” as their investors lost millions of dollars and the Regalados dissipated investor funds to support their “lavish lifestyle.”

“We allege that Mr. Regalado took advantage of the trust and faith of his own Christian community and that he peddled outlandish promises of wealth to them when he sold them essentially worthless cryptocurrencies,” said Commissioner Chan. “New coins and new exchanges are easy to create with open source code. We want to remind consumers to be very skeptical.”

The action, filed in Denver District Court, seeks preliminary and injunctive relief, damages for investors and for a constructive trust to be placed on the Defendants’ property.

The investigation into the Regalado’s dealings is currently ongoing and authorities are anyone who invested with INDXCoin or any of the Regalado’s other entities to contact the Colorado Division of Securities at dora_SecuritiesWebsite@state.co.us or 303-894-2320.

Wow, does that mean Jordan is THE DEVIL?
No, it likely means he is after your money. A fool and his money are soon parted. He has probably been surprised in feedback from listeners that they take him seriously. If the show ended with the host wanting to sell you snake oil, then I'm right in my assumption.

Florida lawmakers want to let children work full-time hours – Homeschoolers/Virtual Students to work during School Hours

A bill in Florida that would allow children to work full-time hours even on school nights has just passed another major hurdle.

House Bill 49, championed by Florida Republicans, would allow employers to schedule 16- and 17-year-olds between 6 am and 11 pm, even if the following day is a school day. Under the bill, employers could also schedule them to work more than 30 hours per week year-round. The bill also allows students who are “in a home education program” or enrolled in an approved virtual instructional program to work during school hours.

And on Tuesday, the Florida House Commerce Committee voted to advance the bill into the Florida House of Representatives.

Ever since its introduction by Representative Linda Chaney, a Republican, state Democrats and labour policy experts have stood in stark opposition.

Representative Anna Eskamani, a Democrat who opposes the bill, called it “extremely concerning.”

“Florida is home to a robust immigrant community and this bill could make their children vulnerable to corporate exploitation the same way they were in the 20th century,” Ms Eskamani said in a statement. “We have seen this pattern of exploitation before in the US and we should take steps to ensure it never happens again.”

Kara Gross, legislative director and senior policy counsel for the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida, said the bill “disproportionately harms marginalized communities.”

“It is often marginalized communities who enter the labor force at a young age, and these young people deserve to be protected while trying to build a life in Florida,” Ms Gross said in a statement. “The majority in the legislature often touts the need to ‘let kids be kids’ and yet they push bills like this that do the opposite.”

Last summer alone, at least three minors were killed while working in the US: 16-year-old William Hampton in Missouri, 16-year-old Michael Schuls in Wisconsin and 16-year-old Duvan Perez in Mississippi.

Meanwhile, a summer 2023 report by local outlet WFTV suggested central Florida was seeing a spike in child labour cases, a trend which dated back to the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nationwide, the US Department of Labor (DOL) has recorded a 69 per cent increase since 2018 in illegal child employment. Migrant children, especially those who do not have a parent in the US, are particularly vulnerable to exploitation.

Despite this, Florida isn’t the only state with advocates for loosening child labour laws.

Since 2021, lawmakers in at least ten states have introduced or passed legislation that would weaken child employment rules, according to a December 2023 report from the Economic Policy Institute (EPI).

“Instead of competing in a race to the bottom on child labor standards, states can eliminate significant gaps and exclusions in existing child labor laws, strengthen protections beyond the minimal and limited standards mandated by federal law, and improve job quality for workers of all ages,” the report reads.

The Independent has reached out to Ms Chaney, the representative who first introduced the bill, for comment.

SEN. RAND PAUL: Realize the bill has more money for sanctuary cities. So the cities that don't turn anybody in, you can rape, murder, pillage in some of these sanctuary cities, and it you're here illegally, they don't do anything about you, and you just fade back into woodwork.

Another thing going to happen in this Ukraine bill i there's going to be $11 billion dollars worth of "humanitarian assistance," some of that goes to Ukraine, but some of it is going to Gaza. It's not clear exactly how much is going to the Palestinians, but it is sort of bizarre that we fund both sides of every war. They're going to expect us to clean up repair Ukraine, when it is done being destroyed. The same with Gaza, Gaza is being destroyed but who is going to pay for it? They expect to us pay for it. I don't want a penny going to Hamas or any of these people. Look, I have great sympathy for those living in Gaza and the mess they are in, and I wish would stop. But I don't think we should always have to pay for everything. When did we become the sugar daddy of the world? We've got to pay for everything.

Florida removes sociology as core course option for public colleges

Florida will no longer allow a sociology course to count toward students’ graduation requirements at state universities, replacing it with a class that officials say will teach “factual history” in a decision critics say was fueled by political motivations.

The 17-member Florida Board of Governors, which oversees public universities in the state, on Wednesday removed a “Principles of Sociology” class from its list of approved core course options, despite outcry from some sociology professors. The board replaced the sociology requirement with a course called “Introductory Survey to 1877,” which members said will provide a “historically accurate account of America’s founding, the horrors of slavery, the resulting Civil War, and the Reconstruction Era.”

When asked about the change, a spokesperson for Florida Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. referred The Washington Post to a December tweet in which he claimed sociology had been “hijacked by left-wing activists and no longer serves its intended purpose.”

State universities, he added in the tweet, would “focus on preparing students for high-demand, high-wage jobs, not woke ideology.”

The American Sociological Association said in a statement Thursday that it was “outraged” by the change, which it argued stemmed from “a gross misunderstanding of sociology as an illegitimate discipline driven by ‘radical’ and ‘woke’ ideology.” The organization, which had previously written a public comment against the change, urged the Florida Board of Governors to reinstate sociology as a core course, saying the subject is “at the core of civic literacy.”

I live in a santuary city, and I can't even begin to describe all the raping, murdering, and pillaging that goes on here. It's pretty much Mad Max and the Thunderdome up in here. You can't even walk your dog in a gentrified neighborhood without some (*looks around nervously, speaks in a whisper) brown person trying to kill you!

Do you people actually believe this stuff? Are you that scared of everything that doesn't look and think exactly like you? The snowflakiest of snowflakes.

There’s a lot of things that I don’t care to hear or see on football broadcasts. I just ignore them.
An occasional comment about Swift doesn't bother me as much as the really stupid announcers.

"Alright, 3 and 24 from their own 17. Looks like a passing down. Oh look! A surprise QB draw......."

Shocking. I'm just a casual fan. How can I know more than the guys getting paid to fill me in a lot of the time?
