US continues to go backward...

I didn't defend anyone. But whatever makes you feel better about the criminals you're defending.....I guess. 🙄
I would not defend the looters/rioters, but I would/will defend the protesters...I also can see why the violence by some people happen when you escalate a volatile situation...reminds me of situations I have been in dealing with mad/frustrated people; when you go hard at them in an aggressive way, it escalates the situation, and they get louder and madder and out of control; but if you treat them with respect, and yes, even sometimes letting them ´get it all out´, they usually calm down. (probably a bad example, but...) By most accounts I have researched, things were peaceful until tRump decided to take matters into his own hands (well, not his hands...he orders others).
to conclude: Protest On!!

President Trump and his administration officials warned that the use of the military in response to protests against his immigration crackdown may not be limited to just Los Angeles, saying it could be the first "of many" — and that protesters could be met with "equal or greater force."

So you say you wouldn't defend them yet make excuses for their behavior in the same paragraph?

NEW: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said he was deploying the Texas National Guard to multiple locations across the state to "ensure peace and order."

"Peaceful protests are part of the fabric of our nation, but Texas will not tolerate the lawlessness we have seen in Los Angeles," Abbott's office said.

No, it's making excuses for their behavior. Exactly like I said.
I don´t understand why you are the way you are, but just now I tried to understand why you are the way you are; yet I am not defending you...maybe this will help you understand the difference in questioning and defending...

I´m so glad DOGE cut wasteful spending...

*The Defense Department said today the show of federal force (in LA) will cost taxpayers $134 million.
*Major preparations are underway for this weekend's nearly $45 million military parade
*The parade will be a major test for the city’s streets, which are not equipped to handle the weight of some of the dozens of tanks and other vehicles planned for the procession. The resulting damage could cost $16 million to repair.

Violence is not protesting. Freedom of speech is not freedom to hurt others.

What he said is exactly what the government trains us in Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior that we have to take each year. As the government employee, it is expected that you will attempt to defuse the situation, not escalate it. After years of taking multiple classes annually, it gets pretty boring. I guess ICE doesn't have to take it.

Dang it PF5, don’t you realize that deranged Donnie wants all the trappings of a king while destroying our country piece by piece. Just add roads to the ever growing list of gawd awful decisions made by an over the hill, stumbling buffoon. Now fall in line, put a brown shirt on, don a MAGA cap, learn to goose step, and all hail tRump. 🤢🤮😡

The government trains you to make excuses for violent behavior? Seems like a complete waste of training, resources, and time.

No. "Excuses" is the word you came up with and frankly is ignorant of the situation. The government knows that someone who is extremely angry has limited ability to process information and will react to others depending on how the others act. That is human physiology, not a personality trait. The government knows this has been studied extensively, and the approach of others can be the difference between settling someone down or dealing with the violent behavior you speak of. I've been dealing with angry, potentially violent, people for 3 decades. Sorry, I know you want to make your point, but you are out of your depth here.
