The Presidential Library System

Presidential Libraries are archives and museums, bringing together the documents and artifacts of a President and his administration and presenting them to the public for study and discussion without regard for political considerations or affiliations. Presidential Libraries and Museums, like their holdings, belong to the American people.

Are you trying to make a case that its legal or that its ethical?

Sure captain, American's own them

Thats why there was a Good Long Stretch there before the Nixon Library was turned over to the Federal Govt, because the Feds Didn't want it for a Long time so it was private for a good long while

Its also why the Obama Library is going to be 100% privately owned too right. The American people own that too right???

Does the Obama Library follow the same model as earlier Presidential Libraries?

No. The Obama Foundation, a private entity, made the decision in 2017 not to construct a Presidential Library for NARA to house the records (textual, audiovisual, and artifacts). Instead, the Obama Foundation plans to build and operate a private museum and presidential center in Chicago. NARA will digitize and then store and preserve all original presidential records and artifacts in an existing NARA facility that meets NARA’s standards for archival storage. NARA retains legal and physical custody of the records and artifacts. NARA will maintain, preserve, and provide access to the Presidential records of the Obama administration, in accordance with the Presidential Records Act,

Here is the Thing. in the Past former Presidents have used Private funds to build their Libraries and then DONANTED them to the Federal Govt and to the American People.

#1 It isn't required to donate the library to the American Public. There was a long while where the Nixon Library was a political issue and Govt officials wanting to accept it as a donation for the American People were heavily dragged for that position.

#2 Obama is literally building a private one right now that is not expected to be donated to the American Public and remain 100% Private.

Actually neither. The only thing that bothers me about it is more of a security issue. Otherwise I don't really GAF.
It's like Schrodinger's Library right now

Trump says the jet can't be a private donation because he will have the DoD donate it to his presidential library when it is built

However he has yet to tell us if he plans to have a private presidential library or one turned over to the public and made a public facility

So him saying it will be donated to his library later means LITERALLY nothing right now

I'm sorry that the same National Archive link you posted says the presidential library system belongs to the american people. I'm sure you can twist" belonging to" and "owning" to mean completely different things. If you want to call me captian that's fine, part of the reason I don't venture over here to disrupt the six or seven people that post here.

Good Day Sir!

I wonder what any of that had to do with tariffs...
The faster you charge a battery the higher the wear on the electronics and battery material in general, as well as reduced efficiency of the charge (i.e. more energy goes to heat vs battery charge). So there's a big tradeoff.

That said, I'm curious what material they are using for the battery and it's expected life.

The “pay for play” aspect is a dealbreaker
The security risk of using it OR the added cost to mitigate the risk are dealbreakers.
All that together is just a ridiculous level of WTF.

So naturally, it’ll happen & nobody will take any legitimate action to shut it down. They’re spineless

Whoever will actually own the plane in four years, there is no way something like that doesn’t come with strings attached.

There’s no such thing as a free lunch and there’s definitely no such thing as a free $400 million Qatari 747-8.
Donald Trump in 2017 called Qatar “funders of terrorism.” 8 years later he accepts a bribe from them

KILMEADE: Do you worry that if they Qataris give us something like this that they'll want something in return?

LEAVITT: Absolutely not, because they know President Trump and they know he only works with the interests of the American public in mind
