Trump 47

1) Just because someone agrees or defends an individual point that someone makes does not mean they agree with everything they say. I would hope that goes without saying, but I guess not. Don’t become a lazy zzz’s bro who because they don’t have the ability to explain themself chooses instead to make-up stuff to argue against what someone never said.
2) What power does a US court have to remove a citizen from a particular country from that country? Explain yourself.
What power does the US have to force a particular country to change any policy?

You tell me. If the President of El Salvador does not want to release a citizen of his country…what is the recourse for the US?

I assume you agree we don’t use force. I assume we both agree diplomatic talks. Or do you suggest money?
I’m not wanting to get into a semantics debate and also misquote or accuse you of some thing.

Just clarify, what can the US do to change/influence policy?

It’s done or attempted all the time?

You stop sending them more prisoners and stop giving them millions of dollars to house more prisoners. The only reason El Salvador is not returning him is because Trump doesn't want him back.

Not sure what your last question is asking “done or attempted all the time”.

If you mean do we negotiate for citizens held abroad, the answer is yes. That typically involves an exchange of prisoners or releasing other assets.

I am confident the current administration won’t do that nor do I think the American public will want that.
Based on all the activity the US has on the world stage, Garcia is going to be a low priority.

I assume we both agree Garcia was sent to El Salvador in error. Knowing that the President of El Salvador has stated he does not want to release the citizen of El Salvador - what would you do?

@Verbal states to stop the contract of El Salvador housing illegal immigrants and illegal immigrant criminals that are caught in US. That is certainly an avenue, but if that contract provides the US value…is that trade-off worth it if El Salvador refuses?

It was a statement that ended w the wrong punctuation. I apologize.

At what point do we as an American public stop caring about what courts say or for that matter the constitution? Isn’t that what has made American great? It’s the one! The fact that the constitution and laws apply to me. Just one person. When they stop applying to one, the next step is they stop applying to a group. Then you move from group to community of people and by extension a race or creed or religion.

It’s the fact that one person matters in our system. When one person doesn’t matter or in your words “is going to be a low priority” we are failing.

I agree the Constitution is vital. Never said otherwise. The administration 100% erred by sending Garcia. But fact remains he has already been sent back to his home country. Should there be steps to assure this doesn’t happen again, certainly…but you can’t put the genie back in the bottle.

So the question remains what level of effort should US extend to convince the President of El Salvador to send a El Salvadoran citizen to the US?

I never said one person does not matter. The US has a lot going on in the world stage. We are not failing when we set priorities. I would certainly hope you agree that I want the Security of State and his staff to prioritize Ukraine, Israel, Iran, and negotiations to return US citizens ahead of returning an illegal immigrant with a credible case of domestic abuse (which his wife did not deny during an interview just today). If you think Garcia should be prioritize over those then we have a strong disagreement in opinion.

That is not to say that the Trump administration cannot ignore the court required “facilitate”, they do. What the administration did was wrong.

Additionally: let’s be honest. Trump has and is going to slow play this. This is a winning topic for him. Just today they released a side-by-side photos of Trump embracing Rachel Morin’s grieving mother compared to the Senator shaking hands with a wife-beating illegal immigrant (their title). It was a major political mistake for the Dems to send a Senator to El Salvador who never took the time to meet or even reach out to the Moron family. That is stark difference in values for many. You may disagree, but it resonates not only with his base but with lots of people concerned with illegal immigration.
It sounds crass, but as @Donnyboy pointed out yesterday…lot of politics is marketing.

Just gonna drop this here.

"To seek asylum, you must already be in the U.S. and believe you will be in danger of persecution if you return to your country."

So the US government says you have to come into the country to seek asylum. That's what a LOT of these people have done. They came in, found a border agent and claimed asylum. The process for that is years long and requires them to keep in touch with court providing location while they are generally granted a right to live and (I think) work here during the process.

So what do you want someone to do who is fleeing gang violence and persecution to do?
Why is it when billionaires find ways to avoid paying any taxes some people say “Well, they are smart people and use every part of the laws to their own benefit” however, the same people when someone comes and uses the asylum laws to be in the country state “They are ILLEGAL!!!!“ when all they did is follow what our laws tell them to do.

Trying to justify anything by saying what's done is done is wrong. Spinning it after the fact because of "marketing" is just as wrong. Is this administration trying to do the right thing or appease their base?

There is a clear line they are blurring here. If they continue to push things to see how far they go, by the time it gets to someone who you care about it will be too late to do anything about it.

Well, would seem that the leadership of the organization that did such a grave injustice to a person should be resigning or fired, right? “Oops, our bad” isn’t really appropriate for taking someone’s freedom and probably costing him his life.

Think you are reading into “justify”. Nothing was justifying why he was sent. It is easy to type that without coming up with an alternative solution.

And yes this administration is going to appeal to the base and to independents.

This is my point. Right now it’s an alleged bad person who “shouldn’t have been here anyway.”

He won’t answer direct questions but yet doesn’t like intellectual dishonesty.

What question did I not answer? You asked “at what point do we as an American public stop caring about what courts say or for the matter the Constitution?

I answered “ I agree the Constitution is vital. Never said otherwise. The administration 100% erred by sending Garcia…..Should there be steps to assure this doesn’t happen again, certainly…..”
And “That is not to say that the Trump administration cannot ignore the court required facilitate, they do. What the administration did was wrong

I was the one that asked the direct question twice to you that you did not answer. I’ll ask it a third time, “the question remains what level of effort should US extend to convince El Salvador to send a El Salvadoran citizen to the US” and “do you feel the effort should be prioritized over Ukraine, Israel, Iran, etc. and other negotiations to return US citizens”?

MAGA conspiracists blames Ukraine and Republicans now for attempted assassination efforts against Trump in PA and in FL last year

"If you unravel the Ukraine assassination plot against Trump, that's going to implicate way too many Republican senators, way too many Republican members of Congress...But, I think by now, anybody with a brain can tell that elements of the Deep State working with Ukrainian elements of the Deep State did try to take out our president."

Happy Good Friday everyone! Happy Easter. I hope everyone takes time to Reflect on the True words of Jesus Christ this weekend and I want you to weigh his words against the current situations in the US.

Trump Order Could 'Indefinitely' Halt Christian Refugee Resettlement

What To Know

In 2024, the majority of the 100,034 refugees who resettled to the U.S. were Christians, and 29,493 Christians among them came from 50 countries where Christians face the most severe persecution, according to church watchdog Open Doors US.

I’ve answered when I talked about how important one person was.

How important would it be to you if it was your parent/sibling/spouse/partner/child?

The alternative solution is to admit you were wrong, get the dude back and offer him an apology. Trashing him through the media when it blows up in your face isn't a solution. It's just hoping the problem goes away.

And I don't know that this is appealing to independents. You get enough people deported who shouldn't have been and you are only gonna see people who kinda want them all gone to support you

I’m going to guess it’s something to do with color.
