Trump Wants Tariffs to Bring Back U.S. Jobs. They Might Speed Up AI Automation Instead

https://time.com/7276087/trump-tariffs-ai-automation-robots/

Really, I tend to doubt enough people want to do manly work as Trump would put in wrestling around with raw motor blocks to machine or otherwise prepare them somewhere along the assembly line. Getting sore muscles from doing it is awful. Let robots do it! Also let robots take their chances around molten steel or aluminum alloy.

What is the “important distinction”? The Republican wanted a tour of the facility and received it. The Democrat Van Hollen wanted a meeting with Garcia and received it.
He didn't originally get permission. They were stopped a couple miles away and denied entry when the article was posted. He held a news conference about it and how others were allowed by. Then later was granted permission. When this post was made, it was during the denial

BREAKING: In a disturbing interview, Republican Congressman Tom Burchett says he supports a plan for American citizens to be deported to El Salvador prisons. “They're criminals. They broke our laws. They need to suffer.”

So it’s not justice it’s revenge for him.

Nearly $1 billion of DOGE ‘savings’ vanish overnight

The Department of Government Efficiency’s website quietly removed nearly one billion dollars in what it claims to have “saved” through canceled contracts, grants or leases this past week.

In the latest example of altering figures on the agency’s website, staffers at DOGE seemingly updated its claimed savings overnight on Tuesday, erasing approximately $962 million, according to NOTUS.

The largest of the disappeared cuts made this week, identified using the Wayback Machine, appears to be a $1.1 billion contract with the Acacia Center for Justice. The group provided legal services for unaccompanied immigrant children who enter the U.S. DOGE initially claimed the termination would save $367 million, but now the contract isn’t listed at all.

JT doesn’t care about facts.
I know the facts. Senator Van Hollen announced his trip on Tuesday. He met with Garcia on Thursday. I just don’t get outraged when reading biased news and waiting for facts to be reported.

But the real important distinction is Maryland Senator Van Hollen flew thousands of miles to visit an illegal immigrant from El Salvador in the immmigrants home country. But he couldn’t take the same time to visit the Maryland family (in the state he represents) of a young lady out for a jog in Maryland attacked, raped, and killed by illegal immigrant from El Salvador.

A stark differences in values and an important distinction.

@Rob B. ….you gonna lose any sleep over this when it happens? Will it depend on the crime they’re accused of?

You gonna lose any sleep when American citizens get detained and incarcerated or sent to El Salvador “mistakenly” over an allegation by ICE that they are an illegal alien?

I’m just trying to figure how far your lack of concern over due process protections extends.
Yes, IF American citizens are sent to El Salvador with no conviction I'll certainly lose sleep over that. BUT notice he said "criminals".

This dude lives in a complete fantasy

Fact check: Trump falsely claims gas prices hit $1.98 in some states

President Donald Trump falsely claimed Thursday that some states saw gas prices fall to just $1.98 on Wednesday.

Trump was responding to a journalist who asked him at the White House how long Americans can expect to experience higher prices because of his trade policies.

Trump claimed Americans have already seen the situation “get much better,” alleged the reporter is not “truthful,” then added, “You have gasoline that hit $1.98 yesterday in a couple of states.”

That’s not true. No state had an average gas price even close to $1.98 per gallon on Wednesday. The two states that were tied with the lowest average gas price on Wednesday, Mississippi and Tennessee, were both at $2.70 per gallon, according to data provided by AAA.

The national average was about $3.17 per gallon on Wednesday, per the AAA data. And Wednesday drivers were unlikely to find even an individual gas station selling a gallon for $1.98 or less.

GasBuddy, a firm that tracks prices at tens of thousands of gas stations around the country, found zero stations selling for under $2 on Wednesday, said Patrick De Haan, GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis. The lowest price GasBuddy found on Wednesday was $2.19 per gallon at a station in Texas. Of more than 500 metro areas whose prices are tracked by AAA, the one with the lowest average price, Abilene, Texas, was at about $2.57 per gallon.

What the ever living hell are you even yammering on about here?

“Care less about due process when letting them in”….“Ignored the due process to let them in”?

Makes me think you don’t even understand what the term “due process of law” actually means.

Are you drunk….high…or something else? Because you’re not making any sense right now.

You’ve made it quite clear that you don’t worry about folks that allegedly violate the law getting due process….especially when it comes to immigrants.

I do. That’s a fundamental cornerstone of the founding of our country. All persons in this country are due fundamental due process…ALL.
So due process doesn't exist for illegals crossing the border? Only for those being deported?

I guess I need to get drunk, high, or something else to even comprehend that.

I think there's an ILLEGAL slinging fentanyl on Admiral. Guess I'd better make a trip to Tulsa so I can understand this train of thought.

You keep referring to them as "immigrants" as if they're here legally.

Please explain to me in detail how someone who sneaks into the country illegally gets due process?

People who show up legally and request asylum or immigration get due process, get a court date .....However those Legal Immigrants undergoing due process and showing up for their court dates are being arrested when showing up for those court dates and deported right now.

So right now it is actually more dangerous to be a KNOWN LEGAL immigrant undergoing Due Process as they are being targeted and removed right now.

It is easier to be an illegal immigrant in the US than a Legal one right now. Think about that. Trump has made it 100X more attractive to be in the US illegally. Which will cause Illegal Immigration to rise even further.

I think @Rob B. point was an illegal immigrant sidesteps his due process by not immigrating through proper channels.

And your last paragraph is absolutely silly and falling for the fear provided by social media. It is not easier to be an illegal immigrant than a legal one. I have several family members, including my dad, aunts/uncles, and many cousins, who are legal immigrants. I certainly have not talked to all of them, but I am confident they don’t have concerns.

Not one of them side-stepped the process of legally entering the country. Was the process arduous, tedious, and time consuming at times…yes. Should the process be faster and better ….yes.

Yep.

You definitely don't understand the meaning of the words "due process of law".

And when did they come in? Are they on long term visa or citizens? Are they waiting for asylum or other immigration court dates?

The majority of people that got sent to El Salvador and a huge number getting picked up now are known to the government because they are doing the legal thing and keeping the court informed of their location - i.e. they are doing it the correct way.

Yep.

Whatever. It's painfully obvious that people crossing illegally whether by catch and release, being flown in by the Biden administration, or just plain avoidance are not being due processed.
Come here legally and I have zero problem.
Abuse the system and I have no empathy.
