Trump 47

The irony of this post is that I was referring to /r/goldandblack which is a self-styled "libertarian" subreddit that doesn't have a single thread up regarding due process for immigrants/green card holders/citizens at all. Multiple days later. It is a bunch of social conservatives that don't like the label. It wasn't directed at you.

Then you responded by making a near complete case that you are indeed not a libertarian as you support authoritarian and unconstitutional measures. All I can say is, I rest my case.

“We are all afraid,” Senator Lisa Murkowski said, speaking at a conference in Anchorage on Monday. After pausing for about five seconds, she acknowledged: “It’s quite a statement. But we are in a time and a place where I certainly have not been here before. I’ll tell you, I’m oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice, because retaliation is real. And that’s not right.”

Conservative Reagan appointee Judge Wilkinson: “The government is asserting a right to stash away residents of this country in foreign prisons without the semblance of due process that is the foundation of our constitutional order… should be shocking…” https://t.co/zWyHyScBk4

BREAKING: Judge Harvie Wilkinson III, a lifelong Republican appointed by Ronald Reagan and member of the Federalist Society, just unanimously UPHELD the ruling requiring the US Government to RETURN Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia to Maryland in the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals (3-0), writing: "It is difficult in some cases to get to the very heart of the matter. But in this case, it is not hard at all."

You are right, I went looking for a ways and didn't see vocal support for those things. Maybe I was thinking of Rob there. The two of you routinely have the same responses to posts, so I think I projected his responses for certain subjects onto you. My apologies there and I'll try to keep that in mind.
Though he does admit in the very post you quoted that due process protections are not a “priority” for him.

Yes. He doesn't post one way or another on the subject and doesn't really post reactions either. So my statement was in error. I did not take back a large portion of my post, simply the mischaracterization that he was vocal in support of certain actions taken. I stand by the remaining paragraphs, and I do confuse him and Rob at times because they are often on the same side of discussions.

JT cares about fiscal issues primarily and most of the rest comes across as a low priority, doesn't impact me, apathetic mindset due to lack of speaking against certain things.

He is absolutely correct. Just look at evelangelical mega churches and the 15 private jets their pastors fly around paid for by their tax free income.

I'm not defending televangelists or other prosperity gospel types (I think they're charlatans). However, I think there might be a misunderstanding of churches and their tax exempt status. While churches are tax exempt like many other charitable organizations, the salaries of pastors and other church staff are not tax exempt.

For the record, I think any church/pastor that openly engages in politics from the pulpit should lose their tax exempt status.

I could be wrong but I always assumed these churches paid for everything to include housing and transportation. So salary would be insignificant compared to effective compensation.

Completely agree on the last point. Any church that is "preaching" a political party's talking points isn't acting as a church and should not be be treated as a church.

So you demand due process when it comes to deporting them but could care less about it when letting them in?

That's the hill I'm apparently dying on here. We've let them in and ignored the due process to do so, ergo, I won't lose any sleep over an illegal being "illegally" deported

What the ever living hell are you even yammering on about here?

“Care less about due process when letting them in”….“Ignored the due process to let them in”?

Makes me think you don’t even understand what the term “due process of law” actually means.

Are you drunk….high…or something else? Because you’re not making any sense right now.

You’ve made it quite clear that you don’t worry about folks that allegedly violate the law getting due process….especially when it comes to immigrants.

I do. That’s a fundamental cornerstone of the founding of our country. All persons in this country are due fundamental due process…ALL.

BREAKING: In a disturbing interview, Republican Congressman Tom Burchett says he supports a plan for American citizens to be deported to El Salvador prisons. “They're criminals. They broke our laws. They need to suffer.”

@Rob B. ….you gonna lose any sleep over this when it happens? Will it depend on the crime they’re accused of?

You gonna lose any sleep when American citizens get detained and incarcerated or sent to El Salvador “mistakenly” over an allegation by ICE that they are an illegal alien?

I’m just trying to figure how far your lack of concern over due process protections extends.

Why not just put them to death to better satisfy your vindictive soul?
