Trump 47

Must be even more exhausting dealing with that TDS constantly.
Nice try #2 today. My criticism is that tRump created doge to uncover overspending by govt then he goes and does overspending to sporting events.
My post was once again just for $hi!s and giggles but you get all worked up wanting to go fight for your donnie…carry on…fight the good fight…

Nixon said something similar. Too bad how Trump has said that he learned a lot from Nixon, rather than Reagan.
He who saves his country, violates no law" (or "He who saves his country does not violate any law") is a purported quotation of dubious origins attributed to Napoleon Bonaparte.[1][2] It is often interpreted as a justification for extraordinary actions in times of national crisis. The phrase has been cited in various political and ideological contexts to defend or rationalize actions perceived as outside legal or ethical norms but claimed to be in the service of national salvation. It sometimes serves to justify the erosion of legal norms in pursuit of nationalist goals. It was notably used by Norwegian terrorist and convicted mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik, who identifies as a Nazi, as justification for the 2011 Norway attacks,[3] as well as by President Donald Trump.

Trump’s VA layoffs have left Georgia veterans feeling betrayed, with over 1,000 employees cut under the guise of saving $93 million for veteran services. Nelson Feliz Sr., a longtime VA worker, was among those terminated, calling it a “Pearl Harbor” moment, questioning why those who served are now being discarded.
That is what is so frustrating about this. They aren't getting rid of people based on competence, they are catching people in an administrative quirk. People that have worked for the VA for years who just happened to change roles this year are being fired. Often, the reason for the changed role is a promotion. And, they were probably promoted because they were good and motivated. Meanwhile, the person who is minimally effective and has been sitting in the same job for a decade is retained.

I apologize to both Rob B and CowboyJD. I am a big enough man to recognize and admit when I have acted like a jackwagon, and not like a Christian. We are all Cowboys here so I hope we can let bygones be bygones.
Don't worry, it happens to the best of us.

Especially with that little 5'6" 162 lb internet hero, @Rob B.

GOP lawmakers divided on Musk, seen by some as a liability the hill

Republicans on Capitol Hill are divided over tech billionaire Elon Musk being the public face of President Trump’s aggressive bid to shrink the government, with some souring on Musk’s prominent role as he increasingly has become a target of Democratic attacks.

Several GOP senators worry that having an unelected billionaire crow about slashing federal jobs, which happen to employ many people in their home states, is not a good look when inflation remains a major problem and many Americans are having trouble making ends meet.
...

One GOP senator said Musk’s buyout effort offering more than seven months of severance was “poorly executed” and his latest attempt to slim federal agencies by pushing a reduction in force has failed to consider how it might impact federal agencies.
...

Polls show that Musk is highly unpopular with independent and moderate voters, who could be key to Republican senators winning reelection in battleground states.

An Economist/YouGov poll of 1,595 adult citizens conducted Feb. 9-11 found that surveyed independents disapproved of Musk’s handling of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) by 18 points, with 31 percent approving and 49 percent disapproving.

The survey found that self-described moderates disapproved of Musk’s leadership of DOGE by 21 points, with 33 percent approving and 54 percent disapproving.

What I have seen is a complete lack of selectivity for anything they have done. It's a process of fire as many as possible regardless of who and then deal with the impact later. They don't understand the agencies they are gutting, only care about cutting people. Just look at the Dept of Energy debacle.

Same thing for all the USAID cuts. Instead of looking at programs and cutting individually, they stopped ALL programs with a few waivers to continue. Wonder what the CIA thinks about their money source for hidden ops getting turned off...

60 MINUTES: “Utter nonsense. The most accountable aid agency in the world is USAID… DOGE fired their top 58 officials within an hour of arriving…”

This was never about efficiency.

President Donald Trump's administration has been urging the Romanian government to ease travel restrictions on Andrew and Tristan Tate, two MAGA loving brothers who have been indicted on sex trafficking and other charges in that country.

Now we are firing controllers and radar operators at the FAA... WTF
They're not firing controllers. They fired probationary support and technical staff. Controllers, and a few other job series were exempt from the probationary firings as well as the deferred resignation program.

Ok. I misread that and missed the maintenance staff vs operators but a controller was also fired. By the way probationary doesn't mean new hire for fed gov, and laying off a bunch of maintenance staff doesn't generally go well for very long.

I have a heart problem, knee replacements and glaucoma in my left eye, still I have more fight than this. Stay the course, even Jesus had to get angry in the temple when he saw injustice.

So I hear you on this.....and as I have said I love the idea of DOGE having a the richest man in the world who loves attention carrying it out is going to be problematic......

My question here is how do we go about the changes that I think most everyone agrees are needed....whether you despise the methods, are in middle, or want to burn it all to the ground and start over......when the scope has become so massive. There are 3M fed employees....it would take 375K 8 hour work days by some group if you spent just one hour on each to go through it. That's not feasible so you have to do some blanket cuts. So how are those conducted? Sonority gets the minimally effective decade person above a pass.....probation gets good folks that changed jobs or whatever cut.....so how do we go about it. Same with spending....the bills are 1500 pages by design so they can pass needless spending no one knows about.....the famous "we have to pass it so we know what's in the bill" line of governing that got us 37T in debt. So how do meaningful cuts get made to a system that is designed to be so complex it can't be monitored? How much of this is breaking eggs to make omelets and how much is bad approach in your opinion since you're way closer than I am?

As I work for the agency in question, I have a pretty good idea how we designate probationary employees, and I agree, the layoffs are arbitrary and do nothing to improve aviation safety.
