Trump 47

I like the no tax on tips proposal. I've actually never known anybody in the service industry that claims all of their tips because of taxes. This will allow them to claim the income, which will make it more likely they'll be able to get loans for houses and such. That is assuming, of course, that they could afford houses.

I'm just worried that more employers will switch to a tip based system under the idea that the employee makes more. I don't want to tip at Home Depot, a gas station, or when the cable guy shows up at my house.

On Wednesday, Elon Musk shared a faked video claiming USAID had sponsored celebrity visits to Ukraine.

A co-director of Clemson University’s Media Forensics Hub tells NBC News the video was manufactured Russian propaganda.

I really hope the change is written well otherwise I don't think it will benefit who it should. But I have no faith in that.

Asset managers, etc are going to shift to a tip dominated pay, where fees become relabeled as tips.

I can see companies that have any public facing element simply starting to pay those employees less and convert them to tip dominated pay, not dropping prices as much as their payroll drops and pocketing the extra money. Driving up costs and getting more profit on the backs of the working class.

All at a time when people are getting fed up with the tipping culture.

Judges curb Trump’s sweeping executive actions the hill

Federal judges are curbing President Trump’s sweeping directives to reshape the government, issuing a flurry of rulings blocking his agenda from charging forward.

More than three dozen lawsuits have been filed challenging major Trump administration actions from gender to immigration to federal employee protections.

Ocasio-Cortez says Trump admin trying to ‘overwhelm’ with ‘constant’ developments the hill

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said the Trump administration is aiming to “overwhelm” the public with “constant” developments in a Tuesday livestream on Instagram.

“I want you all to understand that if you are watching the news right now, and you are feeling overwhelmed by all of the constant headlines and developments and what is happening,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “First of all, know that you are not alone. And second of all, know that that is exactly what this administration is trying to get you to feel.”

President Trump has a signed a flood of executive orders that focus on stripping birthright citizenship, deportations and wiping out diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts, among others.

Ocasio-Cortez compared Trump’s actions to that of a budding authoritative regime.

“What authoritarian regimes try to do is that they often try to, what is known as ‘flood the zone,’” she told her followers, noting the goal is to do “so much at once … that you feel overwhelmed and paralyzed.”

The New York lawmaker accused Republicans of trying to usher in a “state of passivity.”

Instead of being bogged down by new developments and rapid changes, Ocasio-Cortez urged viewers to rise up against the nation’s leaders.

“We need to try. I don’t want to hear, ‘Oh, we can’t do that. That’s impossible.’ That’s called consenting in advance,” she stated.

“So, when your mind says, ‘It’s all over, we might as well’ — no, no, no. … Do not be discouraged by temporary defeats. We keep going anyway. When we are relentless, they will fatigue. They can only hold this up for so long.”

Ocasio-Cortez has been vocally critical of Trump and his aim to restructure the federal government and corresponding agencies following his inauguration, targeting top officials including Elon Musk and others in social media posts.

I wouldn't expect Trump to offer working people anything that sounds good unless it can benefit corporate interests just as much or more.

I'm in agreement. If this DOGE is what I want it to be full transparency is the only way.
Yeah. A lot of the concern on the left i don't think is because of desire to keep fuelling money where it shouldn't go. It's because no one is sure of the intentions of DOGE or what is actually going on. When you have HUGE changes people get concerned unless they know what, why and how. Otherwise you get resistance.

We need to cut spending, we need to find out if politicians are lining their pockets through USAID, but taking an ax to every part of the government in mostly obscured ways isn't going to get support from a lot of people.

Follow-up questions.

Has it been fully transparent in its actions to date?

Has it been at all transparent?

Or would you characterize it as secretive and opaque?

Or somewhere in between?

Questions are open to the entire board…..the answers would be very interesting to see.

In between...maybe...? But not in a positive way. You hear/see posts from highly partisan commentators with no actual backing and lots of what looks to be alternative facts thrown around. So can't claim no information is getting out, just no confidence in what information is out.

There is none of the needed bipartisan oversight to provide context or confirmation.
