Trump 47

The former head of the Social Security Administration says he expects the agency to miss on some payments over the next three months, interrupting some people's benefits, for the first time in Social Security's history of eight decades: https://www.cnbc.com/2025/03/01/dog...rity-benefit-interruption-ex-agency-head.html

“Ultimately, you’re going to see the system collapse and an interruption of benefits,” O’Malley said. “I believe you will see that within the next 30 to 90 days.”

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), the president’s nominee to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, on Monday called the U.N. “antisemitic” and “anti-American.”

I don't get it. Is the Aaron guy or Trump saying we are going to tax exports? That's unconstitutional.

Is Trump saying we will put regular tariffs on ag products? That would make sense. If so, the Aaron guy should have quoted the import number, right?
Aaron Rupar is like an even dumber Ron Filipkowski. Makes about 50 posts a day and hope one sticks.
He is confusing tariffs on imports with exports.

I think he's saying expect retaliatory tariffs if we tariff agriculture imports. We are far and away a net exporter of ag products so that doesn't make sense for us to do, but none of this makes much sense right now.

It looks like Trump is saying this will help producers by reducing competition but we make more of most everything than we can consume domestically so cutting off exports would crash prices. I'm not economist but I am guessing the average farmer doesn't make much money selling products at a loss.

I've been looking for a comprehensive list of all the big companies that are scrambling to build production facilities in the US after the announcement of tariffs. Anybody have a good link to that data?

That's the entire point of these tariffs, right? To force companies to bring production and jobs back here? I assume that since Trump is 10 chess moves ahead, they have no real choice.

Here is what happened last time Trump put Tarriffs on AG products..

Frankly, neither Trump's post nor Rupar's makes much sense.

US Farmers already make massive amounts of agricultural product to be sold in the United States and it's not like they can turn on and off the tap of agricultural products they grow. US exports agricultural products and they sell in the market that results in the greatest net profits for them. It's not like suppressing the market for exports (from retaliatory tariffs if imposed) is going to improve their lot in life.

If Trump is talking about some type of an "embargo" tax for US products going abroad ("tariffs on external product" isn't clear on whether he means tariffs on imported product or some type of tax on exported product) we've already seen what a disaster that is for farmers when Carter placed a total embargo on wheat to Russia.

Did she say exactly what policies are being enacted, and how they are going to help? Or just relying on the stupidity and gullibility of MAGA to believe anything the fuhrer says?

You know what Kamala had? Actual well thought out policies and plans on how to reduce COL for all Americans. So far all we've gotten is the gulf of america and higher egg prices.

MAGA controls the entire government, and yet somehow they can't reduce costs because of "the liberals". Seems legit.

NEW: Doge deletes $4 billion more in savings from its "wall of receipts."

This is the second time in a week that Elon Musk's error-plagued group has removed huge cuts that it celebrated from cancelled contracts.

This time, 5 of 7 biggest savings vanished overnight.
