The Steross Market and Investing Thread

A lot to digest but, basiclly Trump got nailed in his last year with covid and Biden has had to dig out of that covid hole for three years. Personal Consumption is a funny beast. Basically people bought the same stuff but it was about 10-15% more expensive in 2022 because of inflation. Worthless chart to show an improving economy.

Nope - self deprecating - but, I'm off to have sex now.

I made the mistake of starting to buy small caps and risk-on assets a year ago bc they had been punished the most. What I didn't do was make a second mistake and start chasing megacaps after they ran up. So I've been averaging down into the most beat sectors over the last year and that risk-on portfolio of mine was up over 3% yesterday and another 3.5% today. I think 2024 might be a good year for me.

@jobob85 what are your thoughts on CAVA right now.
I still like the stock.... a lot. A good sign for the stock was the lack of sales in December after the lockup period expired. I always have trouble with companies early in their introduction. Analytics are usually all over the place but, recently turning profitable is a good sign. Have you been to one of their locations?

There is one near our house. I like it. Wife and daughter love it. When you mentioned it originally, I put on my watch list, so I was just wondering if you still liked it.

Looks promising. If continues to grow EPS and the thesis that we are leaving the bear market is true this could be a multi-bagger.

Petrobras (PBR/PBR.A) has been a big time winner for me and I barely see it talked about anywhere. It comes with geopolitical risk being state-owned, dumped on fear when left-wing Silva won election a few years ago but it turns out left-wing Brazilian politicians like money just as much as right-wing Brazilian politicians. Other lookout would be they recently announced they'd be increasing investments in wind and solar, which some people aren't a fan of but the stock didn't seem to mind one bit. Very long term hold for me just letting those dividends reinvest.

It's not kicking ass.....we are being told it's kicking ass. Those are two different things.

Relatively. And it actually is. Due for a recession for sure. I've been in finance for 10+ years. I know to adjust for the Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers that they always inflate and overstate. But even accounting for those. Historically good times.
