I'd personally suggest waiting until closer to time. Friday night is a tough one. With many families not going because a kid or grandkid is playing HS football. There will be tickets to be had and likely free or close to it.

I come from Missouri to every home game, so that means I have to leave work early due to the stupidity of Thursday/Friday night OSU football.

Leaving work early to go to OSU games was the best part about living out of state. Of course, I was leaving early on Friday for Saturday games. Never missed a home game though during my 3 seasons living in the Houston area.
