Sam Houston State Bearkats @ Oklahoma State Cowboys game thread

A quick look at the box score reveals the same recurring problem I am seeing over and over again with this team. With 1:34 in the first half and OSU down 41-37, they are 13-21 on 2 point shots (61.9 percent) and 2-12 from 3 (16.7 percent). If they would get the ball down low and take higher percentage shots they would be up by a dozen. They insist on jacking 3s when the 3s aren't falling.
Coach has said he wants the team to shoot around 20% to 30% threes. I expect he means good threes in rhythm.

Accounting for the fact that 3s are worth more points than 2s and that 33.3% from 3 is equal to 50% from 2, let's analyze the data for each game this far.

Oral Roberts-51.1% on 2s, 48% eFG% on 3s
Texas A&M-62.5%, 40.4%,
Prairie View A&M-50%, 54%
Texas A&M-CC-70.6%, 31.2%
South Florida-64.3%, 75%
Nichols State-59%, 60%
Northwestern-51.2%, 41%

For the year, OSU is shooting 57.7% from 2 (which is outstanding!) and 32.9% from 3 (eFG% of 49.4%). That is a difference of 17.2 points per 100 possessions better on 2 point shots than 3 point shots.

OSU also shooting 76.6% at the FT line and would get there more often attacking the rim.
