Yes he’s a junior…he likely won’t be backIs Bodendorf draft eligible?
Other than Josh’s brother what Holiday has demonstrated the ability to be clutch. Tom’s a choker, Josh is a choker, and it’s not looking good for the other men in the family right nowYou've hated Rob for years on this board and a lot of the time I've agreed with you. There were several teams who didn't pitch their ace on Friday this week. It's a very common move by teams in regionals every year. Some have worked for their teams this weekend and some times it hasn't (OU's ace got hit around yesterday). We've done it many times in the past also and the ace has pitched fine out of sequence. Harrison wasn't out of sequence in the Big 12 tournament. He pitched on Thursday after pitching on Thursday the week before. He pitched second so he was on his normal rest at the Big 12. And didn't handle that game well either. At some point the players do have to step up and perform. In fairness to HB, you said he's been dominant all year which I agree with but pitching in this small park against this loaded lineup (full of big $$$ NIL transfers) is probably a different beast than most of his Big 12 weekend starts have been.
My strongest criticism of Josh as a leader over the years has been the inability of his teams to perform "in the moment" in the postseason. We seem to consistently struggle to step up when the lights get brightest. This has been both offensively and on the mound. We had zero response from our 3-4-5 hitters in the bottom of 3rd after their 5-run 3rd so that trend seems to be continuing.
You are correct. I have felt for years Walton has been one one the biggest drags on the program’s post season success and will absolutely not be sorry to see him gone. Unfortunately, Josh has proven time again the inability to build a team that can perform “in the moment” and it is time to clean house. That said, pitchers maybe more than anyone are creatures of habit. Break their habit and they lose their sharpness. Even the best. Should Boddendorf “should” be able to right himself? Sure. But there is a reason at this level and on into the major leagues that pitchers are rarely pitched out of their spot in the rotation. You've hated Rob for years on this board and a lot of the time I've agreed with you. And it worked in the weirdest wayBiggest AB of Bruegge's career
He really got all of that oneAnd it worked in the weirdest way
Duke isn't exactly a pitching powerhouse so it was always going to be a slugfest anyways. Hopefully Youngerman is good to go if we can get past these bums.Bodendorf's poor outing really hurts the chances to win 3 games in 2 days but at this point I'd take eliminating these clowns and whatever happens with Duke happens.
Good response that inning and showed some mental toughness that hasn't always showed up in the post season. Let's see what Davis has here ... he's not always been the mentally toughest either but has the arm talent to put together what we need.
