Once again hacking at a ball that was never a strike.
Bodendorf has to be better, but this move has backfired in an epic wayWell said! Hard to blame Walton when your ace isn’t executing pitches consistently. He’s pitching like the moment is way too big for him
Correct. Team lacks mental toughness under Josh which is exactly why we haven’t been to Omaha since 2016. Major issue. Here they go again hacking away at terrible pitches. No discipline. Something goes wrong and they start pressing. No mental toughness.
You've hated Rob for years on this board and a lot of the time I've agreed with you. There were several teams who didn't pitch their ace on Friday this week. It's a very common move by teams in regionals every year. Some have worked for their teams this weekend and some times it hasn't (OU's ace got hit around yesterday). We've done it many times in the past also and the ace has pitched fine out of sequence. Harrison wasn't out of sequence in the Big 12 tournament. He pitched on Thursday after pitching on Thursday the week before. He pitched second so he was on his normal rest at the Big 12. And didn't handle that game well either. At some point the players do have to step up and perform. In fairness to HB, you said he's been dominant all year which I agree with but pitching in this small park against this loaded lineup (full of big $$$ NIL transfers) is probably a different beast than most of his Big 12 weekend starts have been.BS. If you can’t see he is completely out of sync, then I’m sorry. If I remember right he pitched out of sequence against KU and not going and getting him when it was clear he was done. This is 100% on coaching. When in his normal spot he was overpowering. We got cutsie and it completely fouled him up.
I agree with this 100% and it shows up every post season when things get tough. It's consistent year after year, no matter how much the players change, this is a clear theme of JH's teams and that is on him as a leader.Correct. Team lacks mental toughness under Josh which is exactly why we haven’t been to Omaha since 2016. Major issue.
I think part of it is pitch calling. Its been a constant theme with Rob Walton. Get ahead in the count and start nibbling.Yeah…the moment is way too big for Harrison. Was terrified to pitch to Alford even having him in a 0-2 count
Dude, he missed by a mile with three straight pitches.I think part of it is pitch calling. Its been a constant theme with Rob Walton. Get ahead in the count and start nibbling.
Agree to disagree..not even close!! Buddy has struggled with command all day with negative counts. Arm side, glove side…it doesn’t matter.I think part of it is pitch calling. Its been a constant theme with Rob Walton. Get ahead in the count and start nibbling.
Bodenhorf couldn’t handle the pressure. How Walton is to I blame is baffling for his performance todayDude, he missed by a mile with three straight pitches.
