Regional Round

I doubt they'd do it but if you hold Bodendorf tonight using the logic of "trying to win the entire regional and not just one game" .... should almost do it again tomorrow. Who cares If you only beat a bad #4 seed with your ace and get blown out again on Sunday? Watkins should be able to win tomorrow, have Bodendorf and Youngerman to win 2 on Sunday. Probably crazy but the thought of using Bodendorf to win one game in regionals against Binghamton doesn't seem like much to get real excited about.
Completely agree. Unfortunately, I have zero faith in Josh to pull the right strings. Of course, it makes no difference with our dreadful offensive game plan.

This is way to go. Who knows if he will. I good coach would.

I agree with you, but in this case I wouldn't fault them if they did use Bodendorff.

I've told this story before, but years ago (30?) I went with my dad to the ASA Men's Fastpitch Nationals (softball) in Decatur, IL. One of the teams brought in a guy from New Zealand, considered the top pitcher in the world. THEY tried to get by the first round with their regular starter, and got beat. Facing the entire losers bracket in a 32-team double elimination tournament, 9 or 10 more games, they tried to save him for a little later and, of course, ended up 2 and BBQ. Their sponsor paid thousands in fees and expenses to take his team to Nationals, and thousands extra to fly in the New Zealander, several thousand for his 'salary,' and he never appeared in the tournament.

In this portal era we may have seen our last appearance by Bodendorf.

Well they agree with you. I don’t like it, hope it works out.

I think this is the right move. Binghamton isn't just any #4 seed, they are a bad one. They went 13-11 in the America East conference so it isn't like they dominated a weak conference. They were a slightly above average team in a weak conference that played well and won the league tournament. If we can't beat them without Bodendorf then we had no business being in a regional and weren't long for the tournament no matter who they'd pitched today. I say this being well aware that our offense could strike out 12 times today and this move could backfire 😂 but I do think if you're trying to win the regional (long, long shot) then this is the right move. Also glad to see someone else get a shot at DH after Jones's really poor ABs yesterday.

We SHOULD win this one going away. There is a reason why Vegas has us -900 for the game. That said, the Poke choke is in play. It depends on how much fire and want to our guys have. This is a perfect opportunity for the offense to get going and carryover to tomorrow.

We’ve lost to teams worse than Binghamton this year. They’re starting their ace, 2nd team all conference so I expect our mediocre offense to struggle to score runs.
