Ryan Ure and Brennan Phillips can go and never come back
Had opportunities to build on the lead and didn’t. Pitching was thin. Wech and Rhodes did their part. Youngerman just continues to have bad luck with illness. Talk about bad timing. Sucks…can’t question the effort. Just a lack of execution. Like I said, this was always a winnable regional…sadly it was going to take consistent play. Sadly we had a slight lapse

The kids didn't quit. Not being prepared to deliver in clutch spots and terrible pitching decisons cost them again. Rob ends his career is embarrassing style.
Josh won't get fired, but he's not the guy to lead OSU baseball to greatness.

Well this game was the Cowboys season in a nutshell. Poor defense allows the go ahead run to score from 1st on a base hit. The bullpen could not throw strikes in relief and the offense just sputtered after getting a two run lead.
It really sucks the Cowboys lost Youngerman (this weird sh!t always seems to happen to OSU) but having him probably wins the Cowboys one more game.
All in all the team under performed on the season. Will be interesting to see who Josh hires for the pitching coach.

And I’m really baffled by the Youngerman thing, unless he’s really injured and not sick. In the dugout all day and can’t give you anything in postseason with everything on the line? Was he not screaming coach get me in?

Two things can both be true. The team showed tremendous resiliency both over the last 4 weeks of the season and this afternoon against Georgia. The players and coaches deserve credit for giving us more baseball than we thought we'd see in the middle of the April. They stuck with it and made something out of the season that looked completely toast 6 weeks ago. Eliminating Georgia on their field was a great moment.
But the horrendous bullpen and lack of defensive fundamentals that caused this team issues all year showed up at the worst possible time. Along with empty ABs when having a chance to build the lead in the middle innings. All were issues during the year that never got cleaned up. Rob's faith in Ure is hard to fathom as Ure has shown who he is countless times over the last several years. Feel bad for the kid but he just doesn't have the mentality to get it done when it matters the most and Rob should have known better.
Leads to an interesting off season with a major coaching hire to be made and hopefully they can keep the talented freshman pitchers at OSU and not lose to the big $$$ portal schools.

The young pitchers actually didn’t really really well. Ritchie was out of his mind. Gotta make sure he comes back.

I hope Wech sticks around. Could see some schools watch that game and throw some money at him. Sad we have to think like that
