Portal Recruiting Thread

I will always get excited about any player we bring in from the D1 level who averages 13 points per game while shooting 60% from the field. This team should have plenty of scoring options next year. Just hope the pendulum doesn't swing too far and there isn't enough defense/rebounding.
Has he committed? I would take that.

he was going to lose the starting job unfortunately
I totally understand that, we’ve definitely recruited well. The writing was kind of on the wall when we added Clary, tough to have two guards under 6’0. But he could have been a good piece. Loved his defense. He reminded me a bit of Vic Williams as an undersized guard. Oh well, that’s the portal, on to the next.

Still hoping for a Coach Lutz home run. 3 more days.

Asking this sincerely. What would be your definition of a homerun? Considering everything on the table, I’d say Lutz portal adds so far would absolutely constitute a homerun at this point in my opinion.
Overall, we have a much-improved roster. I'm looking forward to next year. I was hoping for a true all-star, but I don't even know who's left out there to get.

I don't expect us to land any "true all stars" in the NIL Era. Far to many programs who I believe have far more resources to outbid us. I don't think we could expect an OSU basketball coach to build a better roster than what we have seen from Lutz this offseason. I have been truly impressed at what he has been able to do. I think the days of us landing an occasional Marcus Smart or Cade Cunningham type of player are over.

I’ll say it again. Lutz hit a homerun this off-season. He signed two too 100 high school kids, and another with legit size. He’s signed 4 four star transfers and the 3 star guy may be the most explosive scorer. He’s filled every hole in the roster we said he needed to add, he added size across the board, and he did it with guys who have P4 experience or were P4 consensus recruits. And he’s not done yet.

I was hoping but not expecting. I think he's done a great job too.

How many scholarships do we still have to fill? Is there word of any stretch forward that we are recruiting?
Mens roster can have 13 scholarship players. Was 11 for years, but increased a few years ago. By my count we have 11 guys on scholarship right now.

How can you ever keep 15 players happy in the NIL era. There are only so many minutes to go around and if you don't play you can't increase your stock to warrant a bigger paycheck. Maybe some scholarships will start going to players who used to be walk ons.

Hah! You expect someone to play for a measly free college education? How 2023 of you!
