Portal Recruiting Thread

From what I understand it’s to get a “fair market value” and Dean wants to play with his brother Mister Dean. And wants to get paid.

Hoping they realize the opportunity and comeback.
Wow, that is a lot of turnover. I can't imagine their fair market value is much more than what they are getting at OSU as they were all inconsistent this year. But who knows, gotta love this era of colllege basektball. It is disgusting.

The problem is we can’t afford to get any tournament stars. We will be outbid. So we have to settle for several $25-50k average players. Would not be fun to be a coach in any sport. Literally bide your time, last as long as you can in the NIL world then retire early. It’s sickening. Every player on every team wants to play the NIL lottery. I just don’t see how we get any momentum with fund raising
Anyone have any updates on NIL info for men's basektball? I know there is Pokes With a Purpose but what is being done with that entity to drive money to speicific programs? I would think with the fundraising background of our AD we would be hearing more aobut NIL fundraising activity. Just doesn't seem to be much out there.

We’re showing interest from KJ Lewis from Arizona. Problem is, every other school is also showing interest in KJ Lewis from Aizona.

Coleman is also being recruited heavily by Georgetown, Louisville, Washington, and Memphis to name a few. Transfer recruit rankings are all over the place, but most sites have him as being around the 50th - 75th best available transfer player. Personally I’d rank him higher based on his production in a higher conference. Some guys ahead of him were freshmen with potential who didn’t play a lot, guys with similar numbers at lower levels, or things like that.

Great question. Will this concert have a role in it?

Every portal that’s worth a darn will hear from every school possible. Every team has a staff of “analysts” watching the portal. Instant offers to anyone with a pulse. That drives up value and outbids us. Gotta be near impossible to recruit any more unless you have millions in payroll

I like our odds with him. I won’t say it’s a done deal but OSU put a strong offer out there for him.

I know it’s not official but some schools are starting to publish what they will allocate per sport from the $20.7MM revenue share.

Texas Tech is somewhere around $3.5MM (rumored to be spending even more via NIL). UCONN sounds like they will allocate $5MM for Men’s basketball (only going to spend $10MM totally sports & $2MM for women’s bball).

I’ve seen a couple of media (1being RA) suggest that we will be around $15MM for football and $3.5MM for men’s basketball. No idea how much NIL will be on top of that, but if you can throw another $2MM for basketball you should be able to cobble a decent roster together
