Portal Recruiting Thread

Victorious Miller??? For those that don’t know, he’s really, really talented. He was a 4 star top 60 recruit coming out of high school. Had a solid freshman year at LSU, averaged 9 points, but had a lot of high scoring games and he’d cracked the starting lineup before a nagging and recurring annkle injury ended his season. He’s got great size and is an elite scorer and above average defender. Did a prep year after high school so he’s a bit older.

But more importantly than that, he’s Master P’s nephew and his dad is Silk the Shocker. Stillwater would be getting a real G if he commits.
 
Just to put things into perspective, Lutz was hired on April 1st last year and then had to rebuild his roster primarily with the leftovers from the transfer portal, with most of the quality early entries into the portal already well into their recruitment and on their way to different schools. Today is April 4th and heading into next season Lutz has a solid 3 man freshman class coming in, a returner in Jennings, and 3 transfers that appear to already significantly upgrade the backcourt. We need a couple of PGs and some experienced bigs but we are in a MUCH better situation than we were at this point last year with over half the roster filled and some higher quality transfers coming in. The 3 guys coming in the portal all can score in volume so that is going to address a deficiency that the team had last year.

That's the same thing I saw. Looks like him and the new HC didn't mesh and then there was a lawsuit related to NIL.

@Cowboyshoopspride was referencing Ferrari in the wrestling thread so I assumed when he got kicked off it was for something bad.

The TLDR version seems to be he was the team captain at PSU, took some concerns to the head coach, they butted heads, he had an injury, didn’t think the team gave him proper treatment, then left the team or was dismissed. He then later, while he was at Miss St, sued the PSU over unpaid NiL and other factors of not treating his injuries correctly. Best I can tell the lawsuit remains pending. Allegations at Miss St are that he had an Achilles injury. Fans think he quit on the team or to use a more PC term, he opted out.

I think hes a guy that’s worth the risks associated with his past based on where we’re at as a program. If Eddie took him, none of us would blink an eye, we’d preach second chances, etc. Maybe he shows up and has no problems. Maybe he’s like Chi Chi last year, talented but you can tel he’s an issue. Or maybe he flakes out like he did last year at MSU. Either way I’m glad Lutz seems to be amassing talent, the rest will work itself out.
 
Speed and making baskets and free throws are what we need. Not just shooters. This young man looks like a more polished BT which is great news.

Jennings confirm he’s coming back or just hasn’t entered portal yet?

I have not seen any public announcement from Jennings, Dean, Keller, or Vukovic. I have also seen that Mikey Kelvin may have redshirted last year and may be back.
 
Reminds me of Juwan Evan’s. Which I will gladly take.

With the other two unannounced commits (see below) coming in we should have plenty of shooting for him to distribute to.

Still would like another big but I’m cautiously optimistic about this team next year.

Also… my tentative roster changes. Keller got his assessment of the portal and decided to stay.

Dean is still tentative, apparently we are becoming a feeder school for WVU as they are the ones reaching out to him right now. Mainly for his brother Mister Dean
