Pokes at UCF

He’s need to stop recruiting a body type and start recruiting baseball players.
Give me a roster full of Donnie Walton and Jake Thompson types who put the ball in play and get on base, over a roster full of Nolan McLean and Colin Simpson types that strike out 30 times for every one long ball.

Not trash talking any of those players, enjoyed the time they all spent here. But those types of players all have their place. When the entire team is comprised of loopy swing strikeout guys, its tough to consistently produce and win games.

We were once an elite baseball program. How long does Josh get to be very average before there’s any pressure on him? We really have never sniffed Omaha but the one time since he’s been here. You know if a coach is worth his salt at all, he ought to be able to have a really good baseball team with a brand new $60+ million dollar stadium. Not to mention having Robin Ventura and Matt Holliday involved with the team. I don’t get with all those positives how we can’t seem to attract and get elite players. For that matter, why is arguably the greatest college baseball player ever who coached the Chicago White Sox now an assistant or grad assistant, or whatever the heck he is instead being the head coach?

It’s no surprise why Roc has been the best player to come through here in a while. Dude could flat play baseball. We continue to get smoked by teams that play fundamental baseball but nothing changes.

Oklahoma is a baseball state. Every town in this state no matter how small plays baseball. Should be able to go out and find 9 guys that can hit and field consistently.

Twice to be fair. We could and arguably should have made it again in 2019 if the committee hadn't shafted us on a collision course with tech in lubbock for supers. But yes what you're saying is correct.

It’s beginning to look like the team is not ready for a weekend series on Friday nights. If they lose tonight they will have lost 3 of the 5 opening series games of the season. Hopefully that trend changes soon.

UFC is kinda whopping our ass in everything so far.

I didn’t even know UFC had baseball until our schedule came out

Guys, we are not any good and we haven’t been in a while. We have a bunch of big tall athletic looking players who aren’t great baseball players. They swing for the fences and they strike out a ton. Our pitching hasn’t been even average for years now. Walton had great teams at ORU and now as pitching coach he can’t get pitchers even close to what he had at ORU. We just suffered through a dismal basketball season and we’re looking at something around a 30-24 or 28-26 baseball season (if not worse). I’m predicting no post-season for this team. At best they might sneak in as a 4 seed somewhere.

Just too many of these non competitive games. All starts with terrible plate approach.

We often say that our basketball team lacks IQ, but do we have baseball IQ? Do we know when to take a pitch? Do we know when to grind out an AB?

It's all just going up there and hacking away. Sometimes they get hot and have big games, and just as often they look lost. Kind of like living and dying by the three.

Josh needs to figure this thing out
Might be a pattern here....

23-24 Season "Josh needs to figure this thing out"
22-23 Season "Josh needs to figure this thing out"
21-22 Season "Josh needs to figure this thing out"
20-21 Season "Josh needs to figure this thing out"
19-20 Season "Josh needs to figure this thing out"
18-19 Season "Josh needs to figure this thing out"
17-18 Season "Josh needs to figure this thing out"
