Closer on for UT in 3 innings of work
Crull grounds out to SS
Schubert is a first baseman and I doubt he is any poorer defensively. Can’t keep giving up free baserunners, strikeouts and errors in the outfield. That’s fine…he’s our best option at first at the moment IMO. We don’t have another one. Is he an average defender…yes!! Not putting Meola there…he’s too valuable at second and third. I mean it’s not the first time Holliday has sacrifice offense for defense. Just ask Jake Thompson…he played over the field and couldn’t find a home
Started working there in the fall…has always played in the OF going back to HS…you play your best option and Collin is our best option. It is what it is. Again not saying Collin is a good defender but he’s better than Nolan would be at first at this junction. And yes it can be worse. Despite Collin’s 7 errors, he’s only given up 2 in conference play.Schubert is a first baseman I doubt he is any poorer defensively. Can’t keep giving up free baserunners, strikeouts and drops in the out
Had no business losing that game and we used key relievers in the game7-5 probably does it. It’s 100% on Josh. Have to win the next 2.
3 “errors” on the night. Can’t throw. Can’t read a liner. Can’t knock it down. Can’t field against a fence. Ugly. Cost us the gameCan we please move Schubart to DH and someone else in LF? There's ZERO threat of Schubart throwing to home.
Because pitchers are not good.Seems like our scouting report for the shift is way off. They’ve had 5-6 hits that would’ve been easy outs if we were just in normal alignment.
We get up for some games and can make some noise but you’re right, the bulk of the crowd is away from the action. Outfield or down the lines, and nobody behind the plate shows up.I can't help but notice that, while we play in a great venue, we have the most laid back crowd compared to other big programs. Texas fans made that a real home field advantage and were loud the whole night. You know they are on you all night in Lubbock. OU's softball crowd tonight made noise every time their pitcher gets two strikes. But you don't really see any of that at O'Brate. Even with 2 outs on the opponent in the 9th, the crowd is sitting.
I think part of the thing at O'Brate is that even though it can seat a lot of fans, very few of those fans are near the action, and of course as we've said half the crowd behind the plate doesn't show up anyway.
Anyway, kind of off topic, but just an observation.
I’ve gone to a lot of games this year and I’d say between 1st to 3rd base, it’s typically 20%-30% filled. Pathetic. We get up for some games and can make some noise but you’re right, the bulk of the crowd is away from the action. Outfield or down the lines, and nobody behind the plate shows up.
