OT College FB Playoff, Hiring/Portal Thread

This article is behind a pay wall. I listened to it through Apple News. It really made me think about the NIL system. I desperately want our Cowboys to be successful on the football field, and NIL is the only way to get there. But it is a terrible system right now. There are numerous bad actors (I mean really bad) out there using this system to enrich themselves at the expense of young men and their families. It's awful. It's got to change.

I was curious about Learfield and their relationship with OSU. This is what an A.I. said:

Oklahoma State University and Learfield Sports have a long-standing, exclusive partnership where Learfield's local branch, Cowboy Sports Properties, manages all multimedia rights for OSU Athletics, handling sponsorships, advertising, radio, digital media, and now integrating Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities through the new OSU NIL Alliance, linking corporate partners with student-athletes for brand growth and revenue.
Key Aspects of the Relationship:
  • Exclusive Multimedia Rights: Since 2008, Learfield's Cowboy Sports Properties (CSP) has been the exclusive partner for OSU's athletic marketing, managing everything from radio broadcasts (like with Stillwater Radio) to game-day signage and digital content.
  • Sponsorship & Marketing: CSP connects businesses with OSU Athletics, providing exposure through various platforms like in-venue promotions, official website advertising (OKState.com), and corporate hospitality.
  • Integrated NIL Strategy: Most recently, OSU formed the OSU NIL Alliance with Learfield's Cowboy Sports Properties, combining the POSSE Excellence Fund with NIL efforts to create endorsement opportunities and revenue sharing for athletes, streamlining support for student-athletes' marketability.
  • Technology & Digital: Learfield also provides technology platforms, with its subsidiary Paciolan handling ticketing and fundraising, and Sidearm Sports managing the official athletics website and app.
In essence, Learfield acts as the central hub for most of Oklahoma State's athletic revenue generation and marketing, now extending into the crucial NIL space to support student-athlete success and brand visibility.

Thanks for posting, I was curious too.

This feels like boiler plate stuff that’s pretty vague.

To the point of fixing the calendar: a third of the HC’s, OC’s & DC’s for playoff teams are leaving/have left for new jobs.
I know it's an oversimplification, but I don't think anything will change until ESPN starts losing money or the federal government gets involved to force changes.

I'm hoping both happen.

Let greed kill the golden goose. The federal government can't do anything right, if it becomes involved it will surely be a worse CF!
