OSU at Utah

Got to burn it all down before Josh gets the boot unfortunately. In the interim, we will continue to hear excuse after excuse after excuse.
This year seems like it could be different. For as frustrating as the regional failures have been, they've been pretty damn good in the regular season. Consistently winning enough games to be in top 2-3 of Big 12, have a high RPI, hosting regionals, etc. Sure we get frustrated with losing some midweek games we shouldn't but overall the regular season results have been quite good. The season is early but this team looks a long way away from that standard. The hitting appears to be a worse version of what it usually has been and the pitching staff is a mess right now. Not good when it's the second weekend of conference play and there is no established starting rotation yet.

Based on my research, the last losing season in OSU baseball was 1977. The way they are playing now, they could very well finish with a losing season. Does that get Josh fired?

Listen, I love Josh and the entire Holliday family. Regardless of what happens, they are Cowboy Royalty! I promise you if someone else were Coach and had this record despite the abundance of resources, Josh as a former player would be the first to call for their head! What I don’t get is Walton. He was a legend as a pitcher here and when he coached ORU they were a thorn in our side and massive overachievers and always with a solid pitching staff. I don’t understand why he can’t get it done here with so many more resources. Then you bring in guys like Ventura and Matt Holliday you should have top kids begging to come here. Instead, we are consistently outplayed by well coached “teams” of blue collar guys that play smart baseball. Josh’s teams have become a collection of tall guys who can hit the ball a mile but who strike out 15 times for every bomb they hit. If you think back the past several years, our best players who were also leaders were shorter guys who didn’t fit Josh’s “specimen” prototype but were just ball players like Walton’s son, Roc Riggio, a short second baseman whose name I can’t recall but was the most clutch player on the team. We need to start getting guys who are hard nosed baseball players who thrive under pressure, are leaders and deliver with confidence in the clutch regardless of how big they are or how far they hit the ball. Gary Ward won 14 straight Big 8 Titles with those kinds of guys and we’re not getting them, or if we are they aren’t being developed or coached properly! It’s time for a change!
