Oklahoma is going backwards

it is now ´Partiotic´ to struggle buying groceries and gas; and not complaining...and ´unpatriotic´ to bitch about it...
Well 4 months ago it was Patriotic to Bitch and complain about struggling to buy groceries and people were even encouraged to vote based on this Patriotic duty to call out high prices

Funny how Kool aid drinkers can change their minds and stances when dear cult leader tells them too

The Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs has revealed its no. 1 priority for the next two years is to defeat the currently proposed state question to make open primaries for all Oklahoma elections. To the OCPA, it presents too much political risk to Republican candidates. Open primary would place all candidates for an office on a single list. Separating them into political parties and Independents would no longer be. This could end up meaning that in the general election that only two Democrats would be on the November ballot for a race. It was well proven this could happen when Tulsa voters only had two Democrats to select from in the final election for mayor. I tend to doubt it could pass even though it's believed to be financed by wealthy interests in Oklahoma. Doing something by reregistering to Republican to vote for Republicans in primary races, who are the least far-right Christian extremists, could also be effective. This might happen in significant numbers, if Ryan Walters wants to run again for a statewide office.

At least defeating the state question in June 2026 to raise the minimum wage isn't the top priority with OCPA.

Also, while the Ten Commandments monument still stands on the lawn at OCPA HQ, the people there expect it to be eventually returned back to its rightful place to them, the State Capitol. They probably think U. S. Supreme Court approval of spending state tax dollars to establish a Catholic charter school in Oklahoma will help speed that day.

Rather than leaning on the Trump administration to force these changes at a national level – and all these Republicans are following the lead of California’s Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom on food dyes – it turns out some of our lawmakers are so arrogant that they believe that giant corporations will change their recipes just because a state that makes up less than 1% of our nation’s consumers says they must.

Companies will absolutely look at the cost/profit of importing product already made in/for EU (for what fits requirements) vs changing a subset of factories over to new recipe vs just not selling in OK.

The chemical castration requirements would be for those released on parole (as opposed to those on probation with a suspended sentence).

Sex crimes against children are all 85% crimes which means they have to serve 85% of their imprisonment term before being able to earn good behavior credits for parole.

So the number of folks that this might actually apply to is very small.

I can’t wait until he finds out a good chunk of child sex offenders are female and this is going to likely be an equal protection violation even if they get around the cruel and unusual punishment argument.

SB 1027 would take away power from Oklahoma voters by making the petitioning process even more difficult to meet and give it to to the state legislators. Parts of the bill may very well be unconstitutional. Some of the legislators are promoting the bill based on sheer ignorance and total falsehoods. Speaker Kyle Hilbert said that Oklahoma doesn't have the shortest signature gathering window because some states don't have the process at all. That doesn't even make sense.
