6' 5 and couldn't get on the floor? That's crazy. She must be really bad.
She’d sat out all of the 2024-2025 season recovering from knee injuries and had been playing against smaller, lesser competition before that.
In the few moments she made it onto the court this season, she just did not seem ready for this level at all.
I would’ve been okay with her sticking around and developing her game, as long as the spots held by Acker and Joseph were filled with experienced, capable centers who will actually play and contribute.
We can’t go into another season asking wings and guards to attempt to defend actual bigs.
Seeing Akot being asked to guard bigs was bad enough.
But seeing Heard and Girardi trying to guard UCLA’s Lauren and Sienna Betts (6’7” & 6’4”) was insane.
It’s wild that Hoyt knew how important it was to replace Magassa, and yet somehow they struck out so hard with centers in the portal last year.
By yesterday afternoon, Talia Goodman had counted 42 players 6’3” or taller already in the portal or planning to enter.
I’m hoping for a 6’6” center who can run the floor and block shots and a 6’4”+ backup.
Florida State’s Pania Davis (6’6”) would fit OSU’s style so well, but I’m sure she will have a long list of teams vying to sign her.
