Official Game Thread of Disappointment: OSU vs Tulsa

Same thing he said after game 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 etc last year. There’s a lot of failure in that program. The highest paid strength and conditioning coaches team just got manhandled and pushed around by Tulsa. The recruiting staff and Kenyatta Wright look ridiculous with this roster they’ve put together which probably wouldn’t be ranked in FCS. The 2 Oline coaches can’t find a way to at least have their guys get in the way of a defender. It took the OC 8 quarters before he found a way to get the ball in the endzone.

Forgive me for not trusting that Gundy is capable of getting these 180 to do their jobs.
I think for six quarters Gundy put shackles on our offense to play vanilla. Then Meacham was allowed to call the last two quarters with plays with which he has been familiar and found a grain of success. But it wasn’t enough.

Wow, we came so close, in Ames that ref with that wondering eye that needed surgery to correct. The game against Stanford, I was there and really believe we saw the 2 best teams in the NCAA that year. Gundy has been a Great coach, best in our history. Something happened to that dude: no local interviews and I heard they had to write into his contact that he start attending Caravan and meet donors, and disdained the NIL era, Wow again if true. I have 54 years sitting on the North side, yes I'm near fossil stage, I will renew my tickets next year.
But we must bid adieu. Hope we can ease him out respectfully for his commitment and success

Chairmen of the Board.
You must be about my age and a little tougher. I’ve had season tickets on the north side for 54 of the last 56 years. The years I missed were one year in the mid-1970s and this year. We gave them up this year because my wife got overheated twice last year and I got overheated once. The first aid station was where we watched the last half of two games. I figured we couldn’t do that again and we are scheduled to be unavailable for two other games. With the product on the field that we had last year, I couldn’t justify buying four seats that wouldn’t be used much.

Mike should tell the AD, Pres and Board that he is retiring at the end of the year so they can start the search. I don’t think there is anyone on this staff that would turn this around as Interim HC so let Mike ride this thing all the way down.
I disagree. Gundy has 100% lost the team. An interim could absolutely turn this around because it would be gone the players something to get excited about, or at least feel differently.

Plus, there are other reasons coaches are commonly fired mid season now. Times have changed. Gundy needs to be let go NOW.

I think at the end of the day. You have to look at the positives in the situation were in. The Gundy situation is bad we all know that, but I feel you have some more positives than negatives. One of those is we have 2 great coordinators that have experience. You have the best stadium in college football. We don't have the hardest schedule in the CFB. You have a few players that are really standing out. I feel we should at least try to stay positive. Your still gonna watch the games, and your still going to support them. Loyal and True.

Best stadium in college football? It’s really nice, but whatever random poll voted that, is wrong.

I agree with everything else you’re saying. But the positivity can start as soon as the firing has been announced. All those positive things you listed aren’t applicable until he’s no longer at the helm.

Great coordinators? You’ve got to be kidding…LOL

I think you saw what Meacham could do in the fourth quarter which gave us a chance to make a comeback. It seemed like that invigorated our defense. It’s amazing what a motivated team can do. Unfortunately, Gundy ball isn’t motivating. Meacham ball might be better. I think Gundy should turn over all coaching duties to his OC and accept a buyout at the end of the season. He needs to announce this now so the BOR, Hess and Weiberg can begin a coaching search.

Todd Grantham had NFL experience. May not be the best experience, but its experience either way. Doug Meacham, I think he has some experience with the long ball, which we saw last night. I think Doug is who Gundy wants, and personally I think if Gundy gets fired he'll probably be moved into the interim head coach spot.

What are we waiting for?

Here’s what has to happen now. Chad has to meet with HCMG today and say you know you’re done at the end of this season, so let’s do what’s best for the program and everybody and announce it now. That allows Gundy to be celebrated, takes a lot of the uncertainty and negativity away. Tell him if he rides out like this gets the usual “special advisor to the AD” role that you see legendary retiring coaches do, to stay an ambassador and face for the program. If not, you turn into Pat Jones.

We have to move though, waiting until the end of the season is not the answer. Sitting through a 1 or 2, by miracle, 3 win season, again with constant negativity and uncertainty will set the next coach back even further. Remember last season how quickly things moved with coaches, coordinators and players just days after the season ended.
