Offensive playcalling

I haven't assumed anything about our next coach. I'm just stating that the current approach is what it is, and isn't going to improve under the current leadership. There's apparently no interest or incentive to even attempt anything different.
Calm down Billy boy.

I cant help but miss the days of Todd monken and Dana Holgerson.

Hell, I even miss the days of gundy calling plays under les miles.

Everyone you just mentioned was hungry and had had something to prove. We don’t have that anymore. I’m not bad mouthing MG when I say he’s on cruise control. Sure he wants to win, just not enough to rock the boat too much to do so.

It doesn't seem like we have an overall game plan in our offensive attack. What are the weakness in the other team? How do we exploit them? How do we set them up for a big play?

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like we use a "this might work" approach to playcalling. That's the approach for video games, not D1 football.

I wonder how much Gundy is truly involved in play design and calling...he at least has the final say in a play call, right?!...(the following statement may be wrong, as my memory ain't that great)ha...I remember watching Gundy as a HC when he was also OC, I wanna say 2008, anyway he was on the sidelines seemingly drawing up plays, or at least writing down a 'script' for the next series vs. texas every time the Cowboys were on defense...at the time I remember being impressed with this dual role he was doing and the Boys were doing a good job on offense. (again, this may or may not have happened) ha...

I remember it vs Missouri. Chase somebody was their qb and they were ranked 5 or so. At their home. And mike during our defense was on the sideline writing plays.

I'd say you're absolutely correct. What is the identity of this team on offense? Think about really good offensive teams. You know what you're going to get. Yeah, some plays and formations might be a bit surprising, but there's an overall philosophy. When Yurcich was here, you could count on the deep ball to open up running plays and underneath passes and vice-versa. Monken and Holgerson, you knew you were getting a version of the air raid. Baylor used to run the veer and shoot and would really spread a team out to exploit weaknesses. Heck, even back in the day, wishbone teams were playing option football. They had an identity and philosophy. This team under Dunn has no identity and no philosophy. I know what they're going to do (mostly fail to run and a lot of stupid swing passes), but there's no real logic to the playcalling. Like you said, it's all just let's see if it works.

That's what happened Saturday when Lil Gundy went in. Running game started working and throws opened up against a tired defense.

However, I will give Lil Gundy credit for a couple of nice throws.
LG? Life is good for lil Gundy

That was him. That game changed the directions of our two programs.
Booger Daniels is entering his 15th yr in the league. Has a Super Bowl ring and earned close to $50,000,000. I read where he’s started 5 games in n his career. Don’t know if that’s true but if it is that’s 5 games out of a possible 225ish. What a charmed life.

The more I’ve thought about our RB situation the more I hope Gundy and staff are being cautious and they know Ollie needs more touches and will eventually get him there in conference play. As mush as I’ve complained about his lack of touches I realize they might know more than I do.

Last 2 ballgames have been over 120 degrees on the field against winnable teams. No need wearing his tread slick the first 3-4 games as long as he’s fresh and healthy for 20+ touches against KState.
