Middle East

You’re getting there faster than me, but you pretty much exactly described my political/economic theoretical drift.
That is interesting that you are on a similar trajectory as I am. There are quite a few people I know who were "right" libertarians from 2008-2016 that have drifted in a leftist direction and are in a similar place.

The wild thing is, I don't think my values have really changed. I still consider myself a "left" libertarian and still think a libertarian society would be optimal, its just the realization of what actually works and how we get there has changed. I don't think we can get there without leftist economics.

Wasn't he an orangutan....no wait, that's Clyde.

The thing is that conservative news likes to pretend the socialist drift is happening in a vacuum. They refuse to acknowledge (for obvious reasons) that as capitalism works for fewer and fewer people, those people will be forced to turn to alternative forms of governance.

That's basically what OSU has always done with the NCAA. Always works out great. By treating them your way you are also letting them know it's ok to continue being a POS.nothing going to happen to them. This country has always had this problem. A lot our issues are from not having Nuremberg type trials against the traitors confederates. But I'll put him on ignore for the sake of every other poster here.
Jesus was such an idiot. It’s almost like he thought people matching fire with fire would eventually burn down everything. Deescalation is a fool’s errand. The meek will never inherit the earth.

By all means, keep doing what you’re doing with a POS. Apparently, you stopped Rob dead in his tracks, while my suggestion would have perpetuated the issue.

Putting him on ignore is a good start, IMHO.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the bolded part. The best case for socialism is unfettered capitalism.

Using Jesus with an atheist doesn't work. I never said what I was doing was working. I just don't care how I treat people like him. I don't treat anyone else besides JT the same way. I don't treat someone that is very conservative like RX like that. I am just pointing out that neither way works.

Could not disagree stronger. The mixed economy, back by Capitalism, has proven to be by far the best economic political system.
Personally I feel privileged to be born in a country that allows freedom to live combined with freedom of economy. Have many relatives that didn’t have those opportunities at first. They value them now.

Mahatma Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Bertrand Russell? I think it’s generally accepted that mirroring those you oppose simply makes you more like them. I fail to follow your logic, not just the morality of it.

Thanks. Much appreciated.

There used to be a lot more balanced conversation on this board (going back to OP) as you mentioned above. A lot of posters have just left the subforum all together.

I think a lot of them were tradional (mostly financial) conservatives and the Trump era has basically taken away their political home base so you just don't see them out much anymore.

Judging from my occasional pm's, the ones on this board are still here and observing but got sick of being attacked by the loud few so stopped posting in the forum.

This is from the wayback machine, but I miss the days of CTaggie and FossilFuelMan, and a few others. Most of those guys would just flat out talk policy at a pretty high level for a bunch of message board pukes and really would not get derailed in pissing contests as I am prone to do.

I liked that alot.

When I see a lost cause I don't care anymore. That's basically it. But like I said. It won't happen again because he's on ignore.

Edit: to add. My logic is we are way to tolerant of intolerant people in this country.

Can you give me a sense of what this means to you? Like, what specifically would be different in the US if we were to adopt it besides Medicare for All or other health care system?
Yes, but it might take a few days to draft something up, it probably won't be short.
