Louisiana governor ‘can’t wait to be sued’ after forcing the Ten Commandments in classrooms

For crass hypocrisy, I wonder if the Ten Commandments are posted in the governor's church, like in every Sunday School room. If not, I don't see why the state should account for what the church isn't doing. He probably wants the case to work its way up to the Supreme Court.

The First Amendment's Establishment Clause prohibits the government from making any law “respecting an establishment of religion.” This clause not only forbids the government from establishing an official religion, but also prohibits government actions that unduly favor one religion over another. It also prohibits the government from unduly preferring religion over non-religion, or non-religion over religion.

what am I missing here?! is this a difficult concept to comprehend? conservatives have no problem understanding the 2nd amendment...

If I’m a teacher I find a poster in Hebrew. I mean if we are trying to be historically and theologically accurate they should be posted in the original language.

And if someone wants to complain about it not being in English you ask why they don't support Israel.

and they should post ALL of the Legal Influence we have on Western Culture like our CARVINGS in our Supreme court Walls display....then if they were to do that I would be ALL FOR IT.......

How come the 10 Commandments is the only thing good for our Schools But the Following is on our Supreme Court Wall????

Our Supreme Court has a carving of Moses with the Ten Commandments

And Babylonian King Hammurabi with the Code of Hammurabi

And Confucius ..so we should have a list of all of his philosophies

Need to have Lycurgus and the Constitution of Sparta he created

Solon with his Athenian Code and Laws

Draco who First Wrote the Athenian Code and Laws Down

The Laws of the Byzantine Empire as written by Justinian

What about the Islamic 10 Commandments. While Very similar to Christianity there are some differences and the founder of Islam Mohamed is carved into our Supreme Court for his contribution to Western Society and its laws

We MUST display the Magna Carta and King John as well

Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne and his Roman Reforms

Louis IX of France and his legal reforms

Sir William Blackstone and his writing on the "Commentaries of the Laws of England"

Napolean and his conquest

If these group of people and their teachings and writings are good enough to sit on the walls of the SUPREME COURT OF THE UNTIED STATES OF AMERICA then they should also be good enough to sit in every single classroom in the United States of America

Then they should also be taught to our people so they understand the Basis of the ENTIRE LAW SYTEM they are expected to Adhere to and follow and not JUST ONE small Part of it.

The Ignorance of Christian Nationalism is mind boggling.

Nope. Agree with you on this.

The only thing Louisiana legislators who voted for this are doing is wasting taxpayer money (because they will lose in court) and virtue signaling to the base that thinks putting the 10 commandments in classrooms is needed.
I can see it going to SCOTUS and being 5-4 either way Alito/Thomas definitely for. Roberts will side w 3 liberal justices against.

Gorsuch/ABC/Brett could go either way. If I had to bet I would say SCOTUS says take em down w Gorsuch and Brett going w Roberts.

It should be a 9-0 decision but it will be 5-4 or 6-3 allowing it and somehow Alito and Thomas will say it should only be for the Christian god.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick vowed Thursday to pass a bill requiring the Ten Commandments to be displayed in Texas public school classrooms, similar to legislation signed into law Wednesday in Louisiana.

Patrick lamented that Texas’ neighbor beat it in enacting the law, noting a bill by state Sen. Phil King, R-Weatherford, cleared the Senate in 2023 but stalled in the House.

if I were a public school teacher and were forced to have the 10 Commandments on wall, I would also have the 5 pillars of Islam, the 5 precepts of Buddhism, the 7 tenets of Satanism, etc.
oh, and also have a big ole rainbow with LGBTQ+ on it, around the 10 Commandments...

Good parenting means their kids when starting the first grade already know that lying is wrong, killing someone you don't like is wrong, stealing from someone from the result of coveting is wrong and you shouldn't talk back at your parents. It's really about too many parents shouldn't be parents.

Meanwhile, would the Louisiana governor like to take a break from abject hypocrisy by requiring that the state of Louisiana must start honoring the 4th Commandment by requiring all businesses must close on Sunday? After all, some of the school kids are going to wonder why they aren't closed. "If daddy and/or mommy have to work on Sunday, why do you dare make them do it under God and the Ten Commandments?"

Aren't parents supposed to be in charge of the schools? I keep reading that all these red states want to put parents back in charge. I'm a parent and I don't want religion taught in school. This sure seems like government stepping into the classroom.
