Who’s next? Does anybody think we’ll go after a potential 184 pound wrestler?
I'm not sure who coaches are going after, but I believe coaches will be very open. There will be wrestlers who actively seek out a transfer to OSU (Dean Hamiti for example). To me it remains to be seen what the coaches will do in regards to bringing in a transfer when we already have a starter. For example, will they actively bring in a 157lb or heavy? I get the feeling that the coaches are settling for nothing less than a national championship meaning that if you are not top 5 or close, you could get recruited over at any time.

Very early to think about next year. But Ducet looks like an AA as 285 weight class will lose a lot of the top guys (8 of top 10 in Intermat rankings, 9 of top 12). I think Ducet is around top 12 in current class, So should be AA next year. Would be hard to find someone better to transfer in.

At 184 we have Braydon Thompson who was top 10 recruit and Jersey Robb. 6 of the top 10 are seniors. Iowa's redshirt is better (but not coming to OSU) and maybe Penn State has someone. But not sure we can improve.

At 197 we have Merrill. We will see how he does. Thompson or Robb could bump up.

At 174 will have Lockett. I doubt he redshirts. I think he is stud year 1. So top 4 weights should be solid.

165 and 157 are question marks. Some top recuits coming in and Travis coming back. But I could see a transfer.

126 will be Spratley. 133, 141, and 149 have some talent, just how does it sort out. Would be hard to find a transfer in those weights that is upgrade.

I think Doucet would be a good option too. However, Ghadiali from Campbell looks like he could slot in well. High scoring and has some impressive wins.

At 157, it will probably be Travis's weight, unless Robideau is the clear starter. I anticipate Robideau to Redshirt and get thrown in some duals here and there.

I believe the biggest question marks are around 165 and 174. I think Dee should start at 165. He will most likely start right out of high school and it appears that he has Olympic aspirations. Which would mean that he would need to wrestle around an Olympic weight class (74kg/163lbs). He doesn't look like he cuts much weight to make 175 so I can imagine that 165 would be manageable.

If Dee starts at 165, does Robb make the cut to 174 or do we look to acquire a transfer? I'm unsure if Robb could make 174 given that he's wrestled at 184 and 197, but it's possible. If we do look for a transfer, I think Garrett Thompson from Ohio could fit in well.

My issue with Doucett is that he wrestles, almost exclusively, close matches. He could AA, but could also go 0-2 because every match will be close. I just didn't see him being an AA, but I hope to be wrong. I also believe the portal is big for next year. We need to fill several spots for a year to make sure the new recruits are ready.

At 285, of the top 20 raked wrestlers, 14 are seniors. At 14 is Pitzer of Pitt who Doucet beat. The only non seniors ahead of Pitzer are guys from NC State, Iowa, Ohio State and VT. Maybe guy from VT is better than Doucet, maybe not. So unless you get one of top 3 guys, will be hard to upgrade from Ducet (and I doubt you can get guy from iowa or Ohio State).

I agree that if Lockett goes at 165, that would be best for team as I think Robb can get down to 174 (or maybe Thompson goes back to 174).

I also agree 157 is likely Travis unless Robideau is clearly better.

The interesting questions are 133, 141, and 149. Jamison will be at 141 or 149, but who slots in 133? Rin, McComas, or Vega? And do they move Jamison to 149 and get Hughes or Vega to start at 141?

I would love to see Rin at 133, Hughes at 141 and Jamison at 149. With Spratley at 125 that would be a very stout first four weight classes.
