I know relatively little about this situation and have read a lot of this thread and appreciate all of the perspectives.
After admitting I know little I would be smart to shut up. But, many here have called me not smart so here goes.
I would say that this is a conflict with no true innocence. If you are seeking to show reasons to support one side that is a pretty easy thing to do. If you are seeking to show that one side is right and the other is wrong, that is very difficult to do. If you are trying to be balanced and figure out who is "more right" or "more wrong" that will be impossible to do. I've heard those arguments from both sides and both have sounded convincing but neither really convinced me.
Political wars are ugly but end.
Ethnic wars are very difficult to end.
Religious wars are dang near impossible to end.
This long term religious and ethnic war is going to take a lot more than anything I've ever seen put on the table to end. So far, not even close.
It is sad that modern people still think their God(s) wants them to fight other people instead of learning to live harmoniously.
