I thought so as well. Hassler was 1st up in the bottom half. I think he was waiting to try and get a clean inning behind the plate. When the PB happened he immediately made the change.

He did the same thing to Timm. Her first plate appearance was bad. Watched two down the middle strikes and then swung at a high out of the zone rise ball for a 3 pitch strike out. Top half she was subbed for.

Listening to the broadcast it sounds like the coaches are really becoming less tolerant of our plate approach. They have mentioned several times that we watch called strikes and swing at pitches out of the zone like that phrase is on repeat in the dugout.

If so I'm all for it. Some plate discipline is needed. Benching Timm seems to have sent a message to everybody else because the rest of the game the ABs got way better.

To me, the key stat that tells the problem offensively is that we've only drawn 95 walks in 37 games but we've given 128. Today they drew 5 walks and 2 HBP. Several of those came around to score, and all of those kept innings going.

Her pitches don't move at all. So she either throws strikes that get pounded or gets scared and throws it nowhwere close.

I get Meylan is gassed, but this game is a pretty big one. She needs to be out there today and then give her the mid-week off. Kutz throws 1.1 innings decent and we think she's ready to start a huge game 3.
