Deadlam

This shall be a good game. Looking forward to the matchups. I'd like to see just how good gabriel and OU's Wrs are to see if they can punish osu's box loading defense when they plan man on them. They have a wr with world class speed who could really be a nice decoy so lets see how things play out! Key injuries for OU wont help their case. Their top wr is out, the top rb is banged up and might not play. The top LB and defensive player might be out. their top safety is banged up, and their 2nd best db is banged up. It's a lot to overcome if your opponent doesnt make mistakes

Everyone's banged up by this point in the season, but I'll give you credit for getting this out there before the game.

Our pass defense worries me more than anything, but do you expect OSU will be loading the box often? I think we did that against inferior passing attacks to force them to try and beat us through the air.

I’m thinking the strategy against Gabriel will need to be different. More disguised packages to keep him wondering if we’ll blitz or drop into coverage. I think it comes down to how many defenders have to attack to put pressure on Gabriel. We can’t give him all day to throw or he’ll pick us apart.

I don’t think you have to load up the box to stop Oklahoma’s running game at this point. But that’s just how the Osu defense has been playing. Agree that giving him time will be bad, it’ll be a matter of how much time he has because he’s good enough to beat you. And Bowman isn’t quite good enough to beat Oklahoma, it’ll have to happen on the ground. So I can see Gordon having himself a game

OU also had a linebacker called for targeting in the second half of the KU game; so, he's out for the first half of Bedlam.

The 3-3-5 is really designed to defend against spread offenses. But we have been bringing more defenders into the box to defend against more run heavy offenses lately. It will be interesting to see how Nardo adjusts to OU’s offense. My biggest concerns are with passes to the sidelines and Gabriel gashing us on a few runs. We tend to give up 2-3 long runs per game that could be a big factor in a game like this—especially on critical plays.

You read my mind.

I wonder given our weakness over the top and giving up timely runs to the qb how much zone we will see. Seems like we’ve been mixing it in more and more. But maybe the zone is what causes this. Just seems like the old everything in front of your eyes and bend don’t break works here.

Very much the pass defense that is the concern for our team. I think Ollie will get his yards. The big questions are will OU torch our secondary and can OU make OSU one dimensional by taking away the passing game. If this is a high scoring game then we are in trouble. The lower scoring the better. Our O-Line and Ollie will wear them down and that is when we will pull away.

I agree, the biggest wildcard in this game is our Defense. We’ve not started well in several games this year. If ou jumps out early, it will really screw the offensive game plan. The D has shown glimpses, and performed well with the game on the line.

I expect ou to throw 65-70% of the time, and utilize Gabriel’s legs for their ground game. There have been a lot of concerns with our back end and all the busts, and pass rush has been a struggle as well. We’ve also shown vulnerable to a mobile QB like Greene at WV. A lot of pressure on Nardo this week. Hopefully he is getting some help.

Seems like every Bedlam ou hits on a pass to a wide open fullback streaking down the middle of the field. Please don’t let me see that play.

According to my OU coworkers, they are banking on their defense (if anything). They're worried we'll be able to run on them, and have zero confidence in their offense currently.

If Ollie gets going, we'll win by 2 scores.

That’s the thing, Lebby is going to be out to prove the naysayers wrong after the last couple of games. Based on Venables comments, they acknowledge they’ve not been aggressive and thrown the ball enough.

Ollie and our run game tends to start slow and get better and better as the game goes on. The key to keeping that going is not falling behind early.
