Big XII Tournament Thread

The Big XII wrestling tournament is March 4 and 5 in Tulsa. If you aren't going, Rounds 1-3 will be on ESPN+ and Round 4 will be on ESPNU.

Looking at the automatic allocations for the Big XII for the National Championships, we should get 9 of 10 guys in pretty easily. For us to qualify 125, Reece Witcraft is going to have to do some work at Big XII's and beat a couple of guys ahead of him. Here is a likely seed for our guys:

Almost every one of our guys has the talent to outwrestle their seed, especially Dustin Plott (if healthy) and Carter Young. 165 is an absolute mine field in the Big XII and HWT is almost anyone's ballgame. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that we have 4 guys make the finals. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to it.

(4) Carter Young v. (5) Clay Carlson (SDSU): Young wins 4-2, but kinda lucked out. He had no action and almost got taken down end of 3. Carter is best when he is aggressive.

(5) Voinovich v. (4) March: March almost gets a TD to end 1, but V fights it off. March quick escape in second, 0-1. V gets a leg at end but can’t convert. March cuts at start of 3. 1-1. Vic gets TD with a minute left. 3-1. March out with 23 seconds left. 3-2. Vic holds him off for the minor upset!

(2) Gfeller v. (7) Kraisser (Iowa State): Gfeller strikes first with a single/double leg. 2-0. Rides him out. G top. Puts on a good ride but gives up a reverse with a minute left. 2-2. Gets his own reverse near elf of period. 4-2. G down to start 3. Another reverse. 6-2. Cuts him. 6-3. 8-3 win. Not sure where points came from.
