2025 off-season thread

Brady Francisco signed with Grand Canyon Unversity out of high school but he was injured and sat out his whole freshman season but then transferred to JUCO for two-years. He is also a utility player from what I have read when in JUCO.

Hopefully Schambow doesn’t go MLB Draft as it seems he could be legit all star catcher. He was starting QB on their football team. Maybe Gundy has some interest and having a two way player and he could be the next Mahomes!

If you view his football tape he has Mahomes like scrambling ability and he appears to have superior athleticism. He also pitched and played in OF and IF in high school.

I think he will end up going MLB due to current ability and potential alone.

You can get thru a season with 3 catchers. They could also go the portal if needed. I’m not worried about the catching position. I’m more concerned with the pitching considering our whole rotation will likely be gone outside of hunter Watkins

Schambow is very athletic but he’s not mahomes and has no interest of playing football in college. Again, it’ll come down to how much a club is willing to pay for him not to go to college. Unless he just hates school, it’s a crab shoot when it comes to HS kids unless you’re Ethan Holliday

With the MLB Draft in two weeks on Sunday 13 and Monday 14 before the All Star Game on Tuesday the 15, most mock draft sites have Ethan Holliday going number one. Youngerman and Schubart are highly ranked. It sounds like Schambow could go high, but most of the rest of our recruits or team may be undated free agents.

I thought Bodendorf, Brueggemann, Davis, Smith, and Pesca would be on the MLB draft radar but it appears they are under the radar.

Honest question, does women's basketball have more NIL money than baseball and softball?
Coach Hoyt was able to have success in the portal, I doubt she had much to work with. I'm sure Lutz has more to work with, but he also did really well.

If the head coach's dad and brother are the only contributors to NIL, doesn't that say something about the head coach?

No..Cowgirl basketball doesn’t have much NIL….its very little if that. She’s getting players that fit her program. A lot mid major kids like Staile’s sister from ORU, wimmer from South Dakota state, Joseph from McNeese state, acker from tarleton state. Even going back to last season, most of our players were mid majors. It’s not like we’re competing with the elites for high end talent. Truth is, we can’t and likely won’t be able to afford those players. After the disaster the season before, they decided to get more culture kids. Kids that are faith driven is something this staff pays attention to especially Hoyt. She’s found her niche…excited to see what she does this upcoming season

New color guy coming next spring. I know Chief rubbed some of us (myself included!) wrong at times with his social media commentary battling the fans but I really enjoyed his color commentary on the radio broadcasts. It'll be weird to not hear Rex AND The Chief next year, they've been such an institution for OSU baseball. I'll miss him on the radio for sure!
