2024 Presidential Election

We tend to overcomplicate elections. Trump likely would've sailed into a second consecutive term without the pandemic, and Biden or Harris would've had a much better chance in this election had it not been for inflation. People tend to vote for change when they aren't happy.

I'm not surprised that Trump won. I am surprised that he's winning the popular vote. That sends a strong message.
Really nailed it here.

Its because Kamala Harris would not finish any better than 6th in the democratic primaries if they were held. Joe Biden not following through in his one term pledge and the DNC's handling of it cost them the election. They have several good to great candidates. They went with one who was milquetoast and got a milquetoast result.
This, they could have hand picked literally anyone other than her and won this election

And the fact that that choice to go with Harris was made between a few people is crazy to me. I understand there was 260 million in campaign funds.. That number is a 1/12 of the $$ privately wagered on the election. It would have been survivable to start over and I personally believe they would have won doing so.

Forcing the fact with an ill-equipped candidate was the wrong move. Honestly the results serve them right and they will wear it on their sleeves forever.
What time did they have to run primaries for a new candidate? That I think was the biggest driver. If Biden hadn't stayed on until 100 days until election, they could have run votes through the states and picked someone. But all the primaries had been run, how do replace someone AFTER the primaries?

I think we saw that you don't do that! Haha.

Who knows, maybe they'll roll Bernie out in a wheelchair for 2028 to finish up in 2032 when he's 9freaking2 years old.

There was discussion of running an emergency primary. It could have happened. Not doing it was the 2nd mistake. First mistake was hiding and being completely dishonest about the condition of the current president throughout the primaries.

I honestly believe they would have been better off leaving Joe in.

The first mistake was picking her for VP in the first place. They were stuck with her and if they had run an emergency primary their black base would have completely abandoned them.

Nope.....the charade was exposed at the debate. Biden would have lost as bad or worse. Biden/Harris had a really bad run some of it is on them some of it was being handed a nation dealing with a pandemic. Harris can't/didn't separate herself from Biden. They would have been better picking almost anyone. There are 28 Dem governors.....almost all of them would have won. They could have grabbed a dozen people from the senate and won. The hitched their wagon to one of the only people that wouldn't have won last night. I agree they couldn't hold a primary but they chose really really poorly.

Y’all are missing it. They picked Harris for one reason and one reason only… she was already on the ticket and got to keep all the campaign funds that had already been donated. If they had chosen anyone else they would have had to start over with the campaign funds. They played the best hand they had. It was a bad hand any way you look at it. Biden should never have run again. Harris would not have made it through the primaries, again. Someone else would have been up against Trump last night. But they hid Biden’s decline and it just bit them in the a**.

Last I checked, CA was only 54% in...that's about 8 million more votes still to be counted. Not 20 but a big chunk. Also makes me think Harris could win the popular vote afterall.

Also Kennedy took about 600K. Still going to be fewer votes cast this time...these are just two very unlikable candidates.

Boring! Conspiracies are more fun.
