I can't seem to locate the original discussion of this tragic incident (maybe it was on the OP?), but wanted to share here in case anyone was interested. Preliminary findings are starting to become public, and it appears that the issue was primarily the result of a punching shear failure at a column or series of columns near the exterior elevated pool deck (above the subterranean parking garage). It appears to be the result of a multitude of factors including construction deficiencies, unapproved changes to the drawings, not great maintenance, and missed signs of distress during a recent building inspection.
Like most collapses, this one is the result of several compounding factors, so its tough to place blame on one entity or cause.
