Trump 2024 Run Thread

I thought the current president had to approve of daily briefings being given to former presidents, and Joe Biden did NOT approve Trump. Was there a change I’m unaware of?
Maybe not. I keep seeing articles that intel orgs are getting ready to provide them. Could just be prep in case they are approved.

Well I hope you are wrong. With Trump’s attorney fees and what we’ve witnessed already he might just sell us out for a price. Foreign governments could be paying for his campaign and I don’t think we’d ever know about it. I’m truly hoping the information Trump does still retain is three to four years old, and measures have been taken by the Biden administration to limit the damage, and change procedures. FYI Trump DID reveal allied secrets to a foreign power already.

He literally said that if he's forced to pay the cash judgements against him it could make him open to blackmail. Which is him confessing what he's going to do/has been doing.

so, since 2016, almost a decade now, the republican party has decided that trump is the best option for their party...this speaks volumes of where the gop is now, and how far it has fallen...don't think I can vote republican in the foreseeable future..

I vowed to never support a party that supports Trump and enables everything he's done. Never voted D before 2016 but I'm done with the party until they stop supporting him and haven't voted R since then.

Nearly every person w sense including some on this board will tell you that they believe Trump is a disgusting human being. They including many magastanians will agree that Trump will be an authoritarian. Many Magastanains including those on this board (some who remain closeted) would admit they are ok w him being a dictator. Republicans in Congress signaled they are ok w this by urging Biden to act w executive orders. Trump himself said he would be a dictator on (“only”) day 1.

Look back for the last 125 years. How many countries actually came out better in the long run w authoritarian leaders? And if they are better in the long run what really happened that made them better?

Some like Germany are but it could be argued that’s only bc democracy prevailed from 50% of 1945 and it took the western democracies to rebuild them and true prosperity didn’t arrive until all of Germany was reunified.

If you are ok w trump being authoritarian and given authoritarians for the past 125 yrs why do you automatically think the US will be different? What qualities does Trump have that lead you to believe the outcome of his authoritarianism will make the US 25-50-100 yrs from now be better?

I mean that’s the choice. It’s that simple. He will be an authoritarian. That’s widely believed and accepted. So when in 125 yrs has that worked and what qualities does he possess that make it different this time?

Bannon thinks Trump has been bought off to support banning TicToc

If you get rid of TikTok, Facebook and Zuckerschmuck [CEO Mark Zuckerberg] will double their business," the former president wrote. "I don't want Facebook, who cheated in the last Election, doing better. They are a true Enemy of the People!"

Oddly enough the "true enemy of the people" has ads for Truth Social. Makes you go hmmm....

Trump Jr. says ‘MAGA movement is the new Republican Party’ nypost

Donald Trump Jr. mused that the “Make America Great Again” movement has replaced the old guard of the Republican Party.

Trump Jr. hailed the recent leadership shakeup at the Republican National Committee backed by his father and argued that it illustrates the MAGA takeover.

“I think the RNC is gonna be a little bit more of that old-school establishment. That Republican Party frankly no longer exists outside of the D.C. Beltway. But it takes a little while to make that transition,” Trump Jr. said on Newsmax’s “The Balance.”

On Friday, the RNC voted to elevate former North Carolina GOP chairman Michael Whatley to succeed Ronna McDaniel as the party chief, daughter-in-law Lara Trump as co-chair, and senior campaign adviser Chris LaCivita as chief operating officer.

Trump Jr. stressed that the RNC needs to “focus on all the candidates,” not just his father.

“It’s not just about the presidency. We got a lot of members of Congress that have to win,” he said. “I think the biggest thing is we got to get faith back in that institution. People have to trust it.”

“Hopefully that’s what this does.”

The RNC has been beset by lackluster fundraising numbers. Last year, the organization took in $87.2 million and finished off 2023 with roughly $8 million cash on hand, per the Federal Election Commission.

Adjusted for inflation, that marks the RNC’s worst fundraising haul since 1993.

By contrast, the Democrat National Committee, pulled in $119 million and concluded the year with around $21 million cash on hand, according to the FEC.

Former President Donald Trump had previously backed former RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel for that role after his 2016 election victory. She led the GOP’s efforts in Michigan, which went for Trump that year.

Trump Jr. also alluded to the exodus of anti-Trump Republicans from both chambers of Congress, including Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) who isn’t vying for reelection in the fall.

“People have to understand that America First, the MAGA movement is the new Republican Party. That is conservatism today,” Trump added. “You know, there may be the Mitt Romneys and the Liz Cheneys out there. But that is a rare and dying breed.”
