We might not be a top choice for many coaches right now but we’re absolutely a sleeping giant. All those students that experienced the 2004 final four are now all grown up and I think would spend money and time to get any excitement back. I know I would. Get someone in that teaches just solid basketball and make it fun to watch. The alums will come back.

There is still hope. If it goes another 10-20 years like this, we’re done.

Or Billy Clyde? There are several in this pool all with different baggage issues. I would lean to someone with evidence of success as HC without the baggage.
Billy Clyde is a head scratcher to me. He looked to be positioned as the next Bill Self then went off the rails with his alcohol issues and I guess has put that behind him, but really hasn't been able maintain much success since. He seems to be going backwards in terms of coaching jobs too.

That wasn't my intention lol. I gave my honest opinion regarding the state of the OSU basketball program. In all my three and half decades of being a diehard OSU basketball (and football) fan, I cannot remember the basketball program being in such dire straits than it is now. It's hard to accept that the OSU basketball program is in such horrible shape potential HC candidates are not going to be established and successful head coaches. It's going to be a no-name.

I cannot control how people interpret my posts... I say what I hold to be true. And I'm not being a buzz kill. I'm simply stating my belief. I have respect for all my fellow OSU fans.. I don't disrespect people. Not my style.

The simple fact is... the program is a dumpster fire and will be for a long time. I want to drink all the sunshine. I desperately hope that the next HC completely changes the downward spiral this program is headed toward. This program is full-steam ahead into complete irrelevancy. It will be extremely difficult finding someone who is willing to try to save this program. I don't think my fellow fans truly understand what has happened to my beloved basketball program.
I really hoped Boynton would succeed. Sadly, Boynton is piloting a program in a nose-dive that is unstoppable. I hope we land a big-name proven winner... one who has the ability to resurrect a lifeless program... That's just not going to happen. We're gonna have to pin all our hope on someone who probably hasn't coached at this level. Hope im wrong tho. I don't think I am.
I think Boynton has been a placeholder because we were blindsided by Underwood bolting (and crushing it at Illinois- still a good hire, poorly managed though) I think we’re ready to thrive; I think we need an experienced coach - Boynton fell into the job, got screwed with sanctions and Cade going to Detroit obscurity hides how good he is.

We’re in a dark cloud phase- I believe a more experienced coach knows how to handle that and right the ship.
