Who Should OSU Hire as Next Basketball Head Coach?

Then they leave.
I would hate to see Garrison, Dailey, Keller and Small leave. But we are probably only 50/50 w the 3 freshman at best for them staying given the unlikely chance Boynton stays. Given we only have 1 coming in next yr and Boynton’s seeming inability (outside of Small and I guess you could argue Cisse) to land a true difference maker out of the portal we are going to struggle to make the tournament next yr.

What makes anyone think w Boynton on the sideline even w this same roster (minus JMW & Bryce) that next yr will be an upper half of conference finish and NCAA tourney team?

I’m hoping we can come up with enough NIL money to keep our top 5 players interested in sticking around for a new coach. And I hope the new coach is a difference maker.

Maybe someone smarter than me can explain why we couldn't announce his departure after our last game, effective 4/1. Or, hopefully, negotiate a buyout in advance at a price between the 3/21 (ish) price and the 4/1 price. Might be worth it to get our guy, assuming his team is not still playing.
This is a very smart take on the situation, imo. With the new TV contract kicking in next summer ('25), there will be millions more dollars, and that likely to increase in the future.

Not saying we should hire this man - but what do you do if you’re Keiton Page at this point? Does he have a desire to be a head coach? If so, does he leave for a smaller job somewhere and come back when is resume is built or just continue to remain patient on the bench here until… when?

Or is he just super happy and grateful to be an Oklahoma State icon supporting the program any way he can?

I think if you go down the new coach path, it must be a proven winner with head coaching experience. A style that brings excitement whether that’s lock down defense or 100+ ppg. Needs to be a known commodity.

Some good candidates listed throughout this ($) article. Boynton is also mentioned under "Jobs we're watching".
The article says his buyout is $9 million and $8 million after the season. I thought it was $8.1 million now and $6.7 million after the season.

I would want to see him have a visibly active role under a different and successful head coach, or some success as a head coach himself at a smaller program before we give him the head spot here. Not meaning this to be a personal indictment of him, it applies to this staff as a whole, but what does he actually do here? What on-the-court benefit has he brought? It's been the case of the staff the whole tenure of Boynton. Bunch of guys on the bench interacting very little with players during play or even timeouts. If it would be continuation of the same by promoting one of them to HC, then HARD pass.

Just curious. If Admin decided to keep Boynton for at least 1 more yr w stipulation that he hire an Offensive Coordinator and actually surrender offensive control and we could guarantee that Garrison, Dailey, Small and Keller all returned would we be ok w keeping Boynton?
