Who Should OSU Hire as Next Basketball Head Coach?

Eh, I went to 4 different middle schools 6-8 grade. I turned out fine. Well mostly fine.

I did too. In hindsight moving was hugely beneficial and I'd do it the same again. Forced me to learn to adapt, meet new people and make new friends, get some new experiences and perspectives, etc...

But at the time of the move it pretty much just sucked. Trying to convince a teenager of those benefits that aren't upfront apparent is tough.

Alford and Drew are as blah as you can get. Medved has potential, he's done well at CSU which is a black hole for athletics. Still I'd have him as a 4th choice at best behind McCollum, Lutz, and Schertz.

Considering that most of the "up-and-comers" that were preferred candidates were from mid-major schools, I think Bryce Drew's resume compares nicely. His 3 year stint at Vanderbilt was a failure but that is bookended by 2 extremely successful stints at mid-majors (Valparaiso and Grand Canyon). His record at those 2 schools is 218-81 (average annual record of 24-9). In 9 seasons he has 7 regular season or conference tourney championships and 5 NCAA tournament appearances. If you take out the 3 years at Vanderbilt (which I understand you can't just ignore completely), his mid-major winning resume is arguably the best of any of the candidates that have been discussed. I may be stretching to find the silver lining but I do think his mid-major success should count for something.

Medved has been very mediocre in the Mountain West. Of all the guys he makes the least sense to me. Alford and Drew have their flaws but at least have had decent success.

I agree McCollum, Lutz, and Schertz should probably be above those names. If Wieberg still wants to hit the home run just go hire Wade.

Maybe. If they’re still on contract being paid they should be working toward something g for osu. That said, how do you go recruit right now without knowing what’s going on or if you’ll be retained.

There's still a few good ones left, even in that tourney. I also like that if it is someone still coaching, we are respecting the existing coach/school/team to let them finish their season before announcing they're leaving. I've always thought that was extremely bush league when a school announces or leaks that they've hired someone and there's still games to be played by that coach's team.

OSU has been a victim of the kid thing. Self was coming until he wasn't because of it.

I know right!?!?! Somehow that never translated to him coming later when it was no longer a concern.
