I’m not doubting that Trump “expects” to recover every drop of oil nor am I disqualifying that US interests were sacrificed when Venezuela decided to confiscate leases and kick out US companies. I worked for a company that “volunteered” to leave mid 1990’s and left behind significant investment.
But this is something the media is not reporting.
US crude prices are below or near $60/ Bbl as far out as you can trade Feb37. Brent is not significant better in the near term but does spread a little in early 2030s. But if Trump wants this oil for US refineries along the Gulf Coast WTI is the price to watch.
US currently sits in an oversupplied position w production at almost 13.9MM bbls/d. Simply put we don’t need or necessarily want Venezuelan crude right this second. America first means putting US rigs and US workers to work in our fields spend money in our cities. Not sending US troops to secure Venezuelan fields, pipelines and ports. You think once the Venezuelan people see their lives stay sh!+ and the US hauling off their natural resources there won’t be stacks in country?
