This may not be the most convenient time for most people and students will likely be out of town; however, this could be a very competitive match. Virginia Tech is brining in a returning national champion (Henson 149) and several ranked wrestlers. I hope that OSU continues to improve and pulls away, but this one could be very competitive on the team score. Come and bring friends if you can.

Here are the potential lineups along with my predictions for the dual:

125: #2 Spratley vs. #4 Ventresca (Dec. Spratley) - I expect Spratley's offense and counter offense to be the difference maker but it could go either way.
133: #18 Witcraft vs. #12 McGonagle (Dec. Witcraft) - I don't expect McGonagle to wrestle due to injury/weight issues. If he does end up wrestling, I anticipate Reece winning a tight one. McGonagle is sound defensively but so is Reece, and Reece's offense has looked great this year.
141: #4 Jamison vs. #12 Latona (Dec. Jamison) - Scary match here, Latona is a seasoned and crafty veteran who has beaten some good guys. However, Jamison really seems to be finding his groove as of late. I expect Jamison to win a tight but controlled match.
149: #15 Young vs. #1 Henson (Dec. Henson) - These two wrestled at CKLV a couple weeks ago with Henson winning 6-3. Although Carter scored the first takedown, he was controlled the rest of the match. I expect the same result but with Henson looking for a major this time.
157: #14 Fish vs. #13 Hipolito (Dec. Fish) - Another scary match, Hipolito looks for big moves and is very dangerous. However, I think Fish manages to stay in good position and find his openings.
165: #6 Amine vs. #21 Church (Dec. Amine) - Church has proven to be very hard to score on in his career. I expect a tight match with Amine getting a takedown victory.
174: #3 Hamiti vs. #4 Wolak (Dec. Hamiti) - Wolak is another VT wrestler who can put up a lot of points fast, but so can Hamiti. I think Hamiti's ability to control the match gets him a comfortable victory.
184: #3 Plott vs. #20 Stewart (Maj D. Plott) - Stewart has really struggled so far this year after his impressive run last year. I expect his struggles to continue and Plott to dominate in this match.
197: #12 Surber v. #10 Smith (Dec. Smith) - These two wrestled at CKLV with Smith squeezing out a 4-3 victory. I like Surber but he has yet to produce effective offense on the feet against higher caliber guys. If Surber can't manage to ride Smith for a whole period, he will likely have a difficult time winning this match.
285: #3 Hendrickson vs. #15 Mullen (Tech F. Hendrickson) - Mullen is a promising Freshman but Hendrickson will most likely be too much for him.

Final: 27-6 Cowboys

Obviously this is just my prediction but it is very possible for the Cowboys to lose this dual if they don't show up. VT could definitely pick up wins at 125, 133, 141, and 157, and I don't think a ton of wrestling fans would be surprised. They are a very talented team so this dual should be super interesting. Let me know what y'all think!

Should be great dual. VT is favored at 149, though Young wrestled tough at CK. OSU should win 285 and 184 without much problem, but even at 184 Stewart was very good last year. Rest of matches (assuming it is the above lineup, could go either way). The rematch at 197 is one I would like to see.

Tailgate starts at 5, but I'm not sure when they'll let everyone in. You could always hang out at the tailgate until the doors open.

Anyone gonna have an extra person with them at dual tonight? I’m gonna be coming up but due to some crap at wife’s work not gonna be there in time to get the hat and I really want one.
