US continues to go backward...

We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.

Political violence is a real harbinger of what is to come--we better get a handle on this as a country. First the Minnesota State House assassination and now this. And I am assuming that today's event was an assassination too since it was a lone gunman, 200 yards away and Kirk was the only target.
But political violence using guns has been happening ever since the assassination of President Kennedy in 1962. Republican legislators adamantly don't want to do anything it about even after they got shot. Democrats can't do anything about it, either, without losing elections. Republicans are even opposed to passing Red Flag laws. To them the solution is more and more guns to defend themselves from armed mentally ill or evil minded people. You don't know when they will suddenly pop up shooting. If Republicans get shot dead, anyway, then it was due to God's will, so they could get closer to God in Heaven.

We have multiple media ecosystems, whether it be network news, talk radio, or internet, that's actively amplifying the problem. My neighbors are lovely people but when they get on politics it's disturbing the things they believe.
Conspiracy theory fanatics with snake oil to sell love gullible people to believe disturbing things that aren't true.

Literally no clue who the shooter is yet or motive

Markwayne Mullin said Democrats should apologize for the hatred and the lies they’ve fed their base, claiming it led to Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
