But political violence using guns has been happening ever since the assassination of President Kennedy in 1962. Republican legislators adamantly don't want to do anything it about even after they got shot. Democrats can't do anything about it, either, without losing elections. Republicans are even opposed to passing Red Flag laws. To them the solution is more and more guns to defend themselves from armed mentally ill or evil minded people. You don't know when they will suddenly pop up shooting.
