I saw something early today. If someone says a comment was taken out of contextual but the full video/clip doesn't change what their message was intended as, it wasn't taken out of context. Its just what they said.

If you say we should treat transgenders like we did in the 50's and 60's there are no about of ifs and buts that change the meaning behind that statement. You might not "really" be saying we should lynch people who are different than us but you are telling your audience that treating them as less than human is perfectly reasonable to you. And if you have the level of influence Kirk has and it isn't called out immediately by others then it should be considered the prevailing opinion. And we see it here where some are doing everything they can to paint a killer with a broader brush because it justifies them seeing people different than they are as less than human.
