Quick, cheap and easy is kinda the same thing as access. You can get a gun in Australia, but it isn't quick, cheap or easy.

I do not think that is the primary reason why they are chosen. Using the gun is part of the fantasy for these disturbed people. Google "Men with firearms" and look at the images then google "Men with bombs" and do the same. This is a cultural thing, not an economic decision.
