To be fair, I don't think many doctors are gonna catch stage 5 cancer.

Also Don Jr must have been really confused when he was watching Big Bang and none of it was in a hospital.

Justice department is dropping police reform agreements with Louisville and Minneapolis that came about due to Breonna Taylor and George Floyd deaths.

"The Justice Department said Wednesday that it plans to drop police-accountability agreements with Minneapolis and Louisville, abandoning the Biden administration’s attempt to reshape law enforcement in cities where high-profile killings by officers ignited widespread outrage.

Harmeet K. Dhillon, who leads the Justice Department’s civil rights division, also said the government would close Biden-era investigations that found multiple other local police departments — including in Phoenix, Memphis and Oklahoma City — violated the Constitution."

Yeah it was.

Scott Alexander is the pen name for Alexander Siskind, who is a long time blogger for Slate Star Codex and now Astral Codex Ten. He writes on things as disparate as psychiatry (that is his profession) to health, culture, philosophy and politics. At times he has written in support of some neo reactionary ideas and tacit non rejection of "race realism" which is just old fashioned racism. His health and psychiatry articles are pretty good and is how I got introduced to him.

I'd love to look back at the conversations on OP.com during COVID. Wish those weren't lost to the wind. Or maybe I wouldn't...

Jan 30th 2023 is when we switched over here. It would be an interesting read to go back over those. Some would be vindicated, others would not. But yep, lost to the wind.

I'm fine with the EV credits going away. But, adding a $250 federal tax just for owning an EV is absurd over-taxation.

I only drive 3000 a year since I bike commute. If I had a 30mpg gas car, that would be around $37 in state and fed gas tax.

Instead, for my EV, I am charged $110 by the state and the house just passed this $250 fee. I'll be charged nearly 10 times the taxation of others. This taxation should be mileage based just like the gas tax and just like business vehicle deductions.

Guess Elon and Don had a falling out. Kinda surprised it didn't play out publicly
